I am completely content with my choice of a evo 8 and wouldn't have it any other way. Model changes or "evolvings" will happen, that is the nature of the beast. What is new today is old tomorrow. All I can say is I took a hard corner in my "base evo" today at a great rate of speed and couldn't help but thinking damn, I sure am lucky to own an evo. I could care less about what I don't have (ayc, lsd front etc...) however what I do care about is what I have; an evo. Period. That my friends is a great thing. So evolve evo and may you do so for evolutions to come. L8r.

I totally agree with you. I was one of the early ones, putting a deposit down in April of 2003 on my current VIII. I first heard of the MR, I was like damn, time to start saving up. Then I thought hell, with $1k in mods, my car will do the 1/4 in under 13 seconds (almost there) and as far as the better conering, it's something I haven't maxed out with my VIII yet. I just hope they keep 'evolving' and the competition from like Subaru, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, etc will definitely force that.

We are lucky, look at what we had to choose from 5 years ago at $30k... Mustang GT or Carmaro - that's it. A Cobra or SS was too much $$ (figuring TV of money). We're lucky, but we want more. I don't see a problem with that - that's American!!

I understand you disgust with Mitsu Corp. but I think we are lucky to have an evo period. Maybe we didn't get all the goodies (AYC, ACD) but we still got an evo. Granted there are problems with dealers and service departments, but they are not everywhere. I have had warranty work done with several mods. No questions asked. The service manager himself doesn't know much about it, but the techs who actually work on the car do. One even has a modded evo himself. Automobile just put the RS in the Top 9 Best Track Cars list with such others as Viper SRT-10, 360 Challenge Stradale, 911 GT3, M12 GTO-3R. The fact that it can compete with these 6-figure cars is amazing. It's the best performance for your dollar on the market. SRT-4 may be close, but FF definately gives it less appeal. I think we are lucky to have such an amazing car in US at all, regardless of how watered down it may be, or how terrible some dealerships are.

If my evo is watered down and I can't exploit it's limits on public roads (which is 99% of my driving time) I guess it will have to do....lmao. I don't consider my car watered down, in all fairness the first evo through the third in Japan had no electronic goodies, so our first evo in America is not much different than their first! I must say I am not a frequent track guy, for them the MR and RS make sense, but the evo 8 as it is now seems to be near impossible to tap out on under most driving conditions on public roads ( again most of my driving time), so it works for me. I also got my 2003 evo in march for 28,000 +tt&l. I am one happy evo owner I could care less if it is an rs, mr, lmnop..... so long as it is an EVO it is a phenomenal car, just look at all the accolades it has received from almost all car magazines in it's watered down form.
Stay safe,
Punisher

good points punisher, i agree with all of what you have said. The Evo is an amazing car. If you guys think it's watered down, then that must mean that every other car on the road is either just sucks or are watered down more than the Evo because look at all the awards and kind words the Evo has received in countless magazines this past year.

Just saw the EVO MR!!!!!!!

This is my first time posting on this forum. I just registered because i think i just saw an EVO MR. The car was black with gunmetal bbs wheels and the yellow bilstein dampers. Of course it had the ACD button and the Gravel, Tarmac, Snow options. I'll post some pics soon.
