AWD Lancer GTS?

anyone else think mitsu will do this in the next couple of years? if you know much about all the lancers you know that the outlander and the lancer are almost identical once you strip down the exterior. i dont see why they havent used the AWD system in the outlander and put it in the lancer. even with subaru even their base imprezzas are AWD. i think this would be a big step having an AWD lineup where all the cars are AWD. it would be a better competitor for other cars.

That would be nice, but remember that all subarus are AWD.
Even a push button four wheel drive would be good.

I don't know if I'd want all that 168 hp of fury trying to power four wheels.

ETA: I just looked up the base Impreza and it only comes with 170, but still, AWD = more expensive to buy/repair/etc. I think it'd be a cool option for colder climates, but I don't know if it'd be a big seller in, say, Texas.

I can blow the doors off of subarus, even though they have 8hp more than me (on the track of course). It's not even funny. By the end 3rd gear I have like 3 cars on it.

I wouldn't want anything under 200hp with AWD, unless it weighs 1400 lbs.

Also +1 on repair/maintenance increase, and starting price would be 3k+ over base GTS.

Soccer mom's who can't drive in the snow buy Outlanders already so it wouldn't serve much purpose.

AWD lancers already exist... in japan.

for our market, i'd think anybody who would want a AWD GTS would just step up to the Ralliart. the price difference wouldnt be all that much, and you get a turbo engine too.

5k-7k is a lot of difference to people who are already stretching their limits on a 18-20k car. it'd be the SAME difference between the base impreza with AWD compared to the WRX. if mitsu did this they'd see more sales for sure

yes the RA is more expensive, but you also get a lot more, namely a turbo engine, SST, and an advanced AWD system. you may not need/want all that but if you could afford it, its worth it.

should mitsu add a AWD GTS now to appeal to cross shopping impreza buyers? NO! its too little, too late imo. should they have had AWD all along in a GTS trim? YES!!! it made no sense to offer it in japan but not here. it made no sense to not market their AWD systems until after the snowpocalypse of 2010/2011. and you wonder why mitsu is in the dumps right now...

Not everyone wants an Outlander just to get AWD. The Impreza is a very popular car in the North East. Not everyone is screaming about drivetrain loss either. The Impreza has enough torque in the 2.5 to keep people happy in the first 4 gears at least. I've got a 2000 2.5 rs and the power is OK for a DD. Runs out of power over 60MPH though. Its a light car, still fun. Hopping back into my Evo though... yeah its quite a bit different!

I have a friend with a 2.5 RS. The car just feels fast it seems. He has yet to catch me in the lancer whenever we um... do spirited driving

ralliart needs a REAL shifter

only thing holding up my purchase of the ralliart hatchback is the TRANNY, or lack of, give me a clutch shifter 5 or 6 speed, my 01 jetta turbo prolly has 290tq and 275 hp at the crank, also installed a quaife locking differential, it still runs great at 196,000 miles but i would but a RALLIART STTIICCKKK ONLY!!!!!!!!
