Is this the 'new' Evo XI diesel motor?

This was back in 08. I wonder if the new Evo Diesel is going to be similar.

Most likely

Mitsu already showcased the technology... all they need now is to combine what they already have with some electric stuff which they also already have... and boom! Evo XI!

Wow, good find xi. Given the specs on the engine, it would certainly stand to reason that this would be the next Evo engine. They listed the torque at 310 ft.lbs. I didn't catch the hp, which Mitsubishi might be wanting to be kept secret. 40 mpg is nice though. With an electric motor, it should probably make similar power to the current Evo X engine. Still, it is awfully hard to say diesel and Evo in the same sentence.

Found this info on Wikipedia about the 4N1 clean diesels that Mitsubishi will be using to meet emission standards in Europe, the US and Japan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_4N1_engine

Diesel technology has come so far. The only problem I see is gonna be the high torque on modified cars and the breaking of drivetrain parts. But I'm excited to see it all come together. Hopefully it looks good.

Could also be the return of the Eclipse GSX or maybe a 3000GT VR4 replacement. Either way with all the advancement applied to that car means a 50K plus price tag.

They have this on their website. It looks really good though I just wish they would make these concept cars a reality.

^ this...

Although lately they've managed to finish most of their current Concept Cars... such as the Prototype-X (the Evo X), Prototype-S (Sportback Ralliart) Outlander GT Concept and their Concept-CX (Outlander Sport)...

With only one issue... most of them end up getting wattered down... but that's true for all other manufacturer's concept cars

Prototype-S

Prototype-X

Concept-CX

The concept RA diesel is a 2.2L that has an output of roughly 200 hp (to go along with 310 ft lbs of torque)...it's far from a secret. Back in '08, it was initially rumored to be the next gen Eclipse.

I'm willing to give diesel a chance... the ability is there to make diesel perform... it's upto Mitsubishi now to see if they can pull it off.

Will it rev to 8000+rpms? Don't tell me an EVO is gonna rev to 5k and sound like a diesel. All I wanna ask is...WHY?! There's no need for a diesel EVO, this is a performance car and even though diesel has come far it's just not suitable for a lively sportscar.

all the rally evos run out steam around 6k rpm today...

there is a big thing you guys seems to me doesn't understand... and that is a transmission.
You can have a low rpm engine with high TQ and be just as fast as a high rpm engine with low tq. All about the transmission and power delivery.

Start looking out of the box, its time. 2012 almost
