Electric EVO
My buddy Shawn lawless and my tattoo guy jeff disinger have electric drag bikes, 6 and 7 second 1/4 mile bikes Cool as hell but damn they're expensive to maintain. That being said... I like my gas motors.
Some of you guys can hate Electric cars as much as you like, even though you've never driven one.
I sold my EvoX GSR (tuned) half a year ago, and started driving a Nissan Leaf... bought a Toyota RAV-4 EV for my wife. She was driving an 06 BMW Z4 3.0si (254hp) before that. I have as much fun driving the Leaf as my X, it's just as responsive and doesn't disappoint in the handling dept. The instant torque on EVs is out of this world, you have try one out to experience it. We are not looking back, only cars we are purchasing/leasing from this point are Electric Cars. With our solar panels, we basically cut down on our monthly fuel cost by $500 alone. No more oil changes, no more maintenance costs... we only pay for tire rotation.
The only thing I'm missing is the X's mean look. I can't wait for Mitsu to bring out the next Evo, a PHEV pumping out at least 350hp with a turbo-diesel and perhaps 40-50mpg, holy crap... on top of that, the I-could-eat-you-up rallycar look (yes, an over-the-top spoiler plz). I'm already salivating pretty bad!

Hybrid / Electric cars are truely the future. I've worked in plenty of shops with some of the first gen. hybrids and can say they have came a long way.
instant take-off and torque no doubt!!! Add a CVT type transmission you got yourself something crazy!!!
Unfortunately until this technology is a norm to auto society ,the price for this type of R&D / repairs is still going to be through the roof. Once we can get Tesla's starting at $20K, i'll consider this still a work in progress. Till then i'll stick to the old fashion Clutch and 9 Octane...
FYI, i have a lexus hybrid and love the quietness.. Just don't know how i'll feel when the hybrid battery needs replacing ( just the part alone $ 9K)

In a heartbeat! If the base pricing on the new Evo PHEV concept (once it goes into production) is reasonable (hopefully not over $40k)... I'll be lining up for sure!
The technology is already here... look at the new Outlander PHEV that's already out in Japan (and selling very well!). If they put a similar drivetrain in the new Evo, I'm pretty sure it'll be a hit... at least in Europe and Asia. Not sure here in America, since gas is still considered cheap (thanks to government subsidy) versus other parts of the world (except the Middle East).

They exchange a dead battery for a recharged battery like you do BBQ propane tanks.
90 seconds to swap batteries for $60

At these stations, the comment is "Fast or Free" as using one of their solar powered superchargers is Free
Some of us have just a hint higher std than you for performance.
"Grip is SUV-like, at 0.79 g, but the low-positioned (in the floor beneath the seats), roughly 600-pound battery pack lends itself to the car’s stable handling. The steering, however, offers so little feedback, the front wheels might as well be casters operated by remote control. Acceleration keeps up with traffic but tapers toward the car’s 92-mph top speed. Zero to 60 comes in 10 seconds flat; add 8.7 seconds to hit 80."
