If someone has the new motor trend!!

Furthermore, $15,000 in 1985 does not equal $15,000 today. Today that car would be hovering around $30,000. 20 years of inflation will do that.
Evolutions are not drag cars. They really, really aren't. If you want a drag car, although the Evolution could do the job, it's expensive and you're much better off searching for an old T-Type or Grand National, a 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, Firebird Trans-Am, etc. The Evolution will not do it as cost effective as those cars.
The Evolution's first priority is handling, second would be handling, and third would be handling. Acceleration and braking round it out, and just serve to complement handling to round out the package.

To be honest, I expected ALOT more from the MR. It's limited production (1000), and loaded with many more features than an evo 8, and barely manages to hold off a regular stock STi, that's over $2,000 less! In the end, it didn't even seem to get much praise for being overall a better built, easy to drive fast, package.
Keep in mind how when the first Sti and evo were tested, those ringer evo's given to magazines put up unrealistic numbers which have yet to be matched by current owners. For all we know, the actual production MR that gets into owners hands will also not match up to the testers numbers, while the production STi will be putting up faster times than tested, as it is now.
The mags need to test an evo 8 versus MR to see how they match up, and how far behind on evo 8 will be against a standard '05 STi. Then test an '05 vs. '04 Sti to see what difference the new steering and suspension pieces make. Other than that, the '04 STi's have the same engine and tranny. Current owners already know how much potential there is with little suspension tweeks, to match the '05, and the engine and tranny need no change.
