Don't worry, even though I read it, I'll buy the magazine anyway.

Someone will find a way to remove whatever resistor on the ECU to get full RPM launches. 6000 dumps can't be good for an STi either.

How would you compare the new '05 Evo with the active diff to the 03 Evo that has the mechanical one.?

Thanks, much appreciated. We worked hard on getting these cars before anyone else and doing the most comprehensive testing we could do.

We had an '03 stock Evo there the day of testing at Willow and if I remember correctly, it was 2 seconds a lap slower than the MR.

Like the STi, it gives the driver more control, but do you really need it? All of our testing was in tarmac mode, although at the press preview our driver did use gravel mode on a wet track and noticed it was better than tarmac mode for those conditions.

Agreed, but, and please no future mr owners take offense to this, when something goes wrong with that acd system I don't want to be within 5 miles of that bill. Awesome numbers from some cars that we are very fortunate to even have.

Curb weight of the MR is 3273 ?? Isn't the regular Evo 8 (not RS) w/o sunroof only 3263 (according to Mitsubishi's website) Hmm...

Every vehicle we test is weighed at our office, on our scales, with a full tank of fuel sans driver.

after reading this, i'm hoping someone like vishnu gets to work programming out that clutch-in limiter. i think the acceleration numbers would be quite different without it and the difference between the two cars would be more apparant.

thanks for posting this and thanks to evo neil for continuing to follow up with the useful info not in the article, especially the 2 sec lap difference between the mr and '03.
