This makes me wonder if a sort of launch control could be implemented in a reflash. Maybe once the MR's come out people could look at the code controlling the clutch-in rev limiter and use it to come up with a stock ecu launch control that can be used in other no '05 evos.

the MT reviewer definitely seems to prefer the Sti, though he grudgingly declared the MR the winner.

It's not just the MR that gets the 5,000 rpm launch limit, it is all versions of the Evo, world-wide.

I understood that, just mistyped, maybe someone apply that rev limit/launch control to the '04 and '03 models ecu's. Time will tell, but this was doable with the dsm ecu's from what I've heard from some dsm buddies.

edit: meant to say I assumed that all 05's would have this

The surprise is the next story about the European versions, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo MR FQ340 versus the Subaru WRS STi WR1. Maybe that will move some of you to support my salary and buy a copy instead of having someone post the article on the website which certainly takes away from that...

That's what we thought until we tried to launch the car. 5,000 rpm is just too low. You end up slipping the clutch more, but then again the transfer case doesn't take the power surge hit.

5000 rpm launch control sucks... Then again I bet a reflash could either bump it up or eliminate it....

FOr sure they designed this also to void most warranty,it would be easy to check if the limiter was removed glad I got my 2003
