If you remember back when the 8 came out. Mitsu said under 30 grand. And base MSRP was like 28,XXX. With destination it was like.....29,700 if I remember right. I bet mits will do the same thing. Make it 33,600 - 33,900, before destination. In the end, 34,100 - 34,600 is my guess. This being that the 700 or so MR package added in already. So Actually base MSRP is maybe going to be lower than 33. If Mitsu has any brains they will not price this car within 400 of 35 grand, and it would be even smarter to undercut the STI. If they do price it within 400 of 35 grand, the STI will become alot of peoples new car and not the MR. And at this point in time, Mits just needs to sell some cars. They need to smart about this....this is their flagship car and when people can afford them and get them out on the road, that is free advertising for mitsu with a pretty awesome looking car.

I still want to know what would make people so eager to jump over to the subie camp. It isn't like it is superior to our GSRs. We didn't need the MR to compete with the STI. Evo's and STIs aren't very different but they have some very basic differences that aside from the 6spd, were not adressed specifically on the MR. One guy was on here blatantly threatening to go get an STI if the MR was too much, asking if mitsu heard him but aside from that motive I don't understand it.

Would it be so bad to not own the best in the line and just "settle" for the GSR? If the MR wasn't a possibility for me, I would have no problem doing this whatsoever. When you drive these cars, you can tell which one is an Evo and which is an STI. That wasn't supposed to change with the MR, at least I hope it won't. And anyone who is ever planning to mod; no matter how far down the road, you need the Evo. Just go look at the results for the Evo vs STI shootout.

Agreed. I was at the dealership today to pick up some info on my car (sheet giving me the color, VON, VIN, etc.) and they didn't have pricing yet. Trust me, even the dealerships are getting miffed about this, not just the customers.

I have a feeling that with the 2005 Evolution's we won't know the price until the first one rolls off the truck and someone reports it here.

An '05 VIII is still a great option. It has the torsen, ACD and turbo updates. It will be a great car also.
