Anyway he did make a good point. If you are not planning on doing anything to the car then you will love the MR. I personally think that the people that buy a EVO are people that are serious about there cars and will not stand for anything stock. Actually there is a poll about people who have modded there evo and who have kept it stock. Last i looked i think it was like 368 mods to 45 stock. WOW huge difference there. Anyway everybody gets his own opinion. I will love to see a MR pull up next to me. And like it was said before i would give him the big thumbs up. But like also was said before when he gets cocky about him having a MR is when i blow his doors off!!
Chris
You have to realize most of the folks that visit these forums frequently do not represent all EVO owners. I think we might represent around 20-25%, so those poll #s don't reflect actual modded vs. stock ratios. Most of the EVOs I see around are stock, where as most of the EVOs on these forums are modded.
What bugs me is those of you (and you know who you are) say I'm a "hater" because I don't like the MR. What's the damn point? Are you so sensitive about getting an MR that you have to lable those who say that the MR isn't worth the wait or price?
I get crap from the domestics guys I work with but do I call them haters? Nope, everyone has an opinion but some people just can't be man-enough to turn away.
I like the MR because it's an Evo, nothing else. I don't give a crap about a 6th gear, ACD or Bilstein shocks.
The problem has already be pinpointed, too many people with wrong information inflated the forthcoming of an MR model. Like I posted a few months ago, the MR release will never be what you get in another country....and guess what I got flamed for it and I was right.
So if you feel the need to buy an MR, go ahead. I'm happy that someone else wants a Mitsu product to keep their buisness going. I could care less if those drivers think they are better than me....the only thing for certain is they are 3 to 5 grand poorer than me.

This is going to happen every eighteen months so better get used to it.
There is a lot to like about the '05s also.

I think its funny...Everytime someone mentions MR, then its automatically a flame fest...
I guess people will always find something to ***** about. Its obvious alot of people on here are envious...If they were not they would not bother getting on and posting how bad it sux, or how its not worth the money or how this and how that.
You may not be envious of the MR, maybe the entire 05 line... All I am seeing is, O its not much faster then the 03's...O my modded 04 could take any stock MR....O this O that...O please give me a ****ing break.
Evolution's EVOLVE, get the **** over it and get on with your life. You dont like the car, fine, make it so then drop it....
Alot of people have posted why they hate it and why it was a dissapointment and why not to buy it and that people shouldnt buy it in about every other MR thread on this board.
Grow up. Its just another car.
Remember, Mitsu NEVER said anything about the car arriving with smoked tail lights, headlights, or black interior...People just assumed it was coming with that ****... Obviously people have not learned Mitsu's patterns... We always get the cheaper/watered down versions.
I think it will be somewhat funny if they just stop bringing evo's here...then im gonna watch everyone ***** about the cars that they would ***** about non stop when they were still coming here.
Well im done ranting I could go on, but I feel at this point im just rambling making no sense...later.
O yea and to add this, MR owners dont think we are better then the current evo owners, it seems to be just something alot of people manifested in their minds. A Evo owner is a Evo owner plain and simple.

I never said that a MR owner would think he is better. And someone saying they can feel the difference in the first five feet is a purely subjective observation. You can say the same thing about a cat-back versus stock exhuast. I didn't notice any difference between mine.
I don't hate on anyone who wants an MR. Just not my cup of tee. And the statement made the "you buy the best you can afford"...that's also very subjective. I can afford a Z06 Vette but I didn't buy one. It's all on personal taste.
My point, don't label me as a hater, I won't lable you as a bandwagon jumper if you are waiting for the MR.

2K4EvoVIII,
For one thing I have never had a problem with Mitsubishi honoring my warranty.
I have the Buschur stage III on my 2003 evo. The dealer said as long as i don't gointo the motor or bolt on a bigger turbo I'm fine and they will honor my warranty as long as its not caused by abuse. Example ..... An evo that was there had more mods than me cams bigger turbo cam gears and was complaining that his clutch went at 3,000 miles Well **** cams, exhaust, bigger turbo with a stock clutch HYM>>> i wonder why his clutch went... You have to understand that alot of people abuse their warranty and make it hard for other people to get normal things covered because of scams that owners have made Mitsubishi pay for. I'm not saying that this goes for everyone but i know a few people that have messed up their evo's and then put the car back to stock to have their car covered under warranty . You said boost controler well thats another thing that voids warranty... Explained to me by service manager (how the hell do i know how much boost you were running ?) Simple to keep your warranty, keep stock controler on or switch it out before going back to dealer . Mitsubishi said that as long as the mods are simple they are not gonna try and F-ck you over. Another example i heard one Evo owner that had an exhaust and filter with stock suspension, and his car had 5,000 miles on it his suspension was making a creaking sound . The particular dealer he went to said well you race your vehicle, and you have an exhaust and a filter on your car, we are not gonna cover your suspension warranty because your car is modded ..... What the hell does exhaust and a filter have to do with suspension??? He made a call to Mitsubishi direct and told them the situation and that his car had exhaust and an air filter and that his suspension was stock and guess what ??? the next week the same pr!ck of a service manager was kissing his *** to fix his suspension problem.. So i dont think that Mitsubishi is singling out people and voiding out most warranty issues unless they really suspect some foul play. Just if your modding your car and you have a cool service manager talk with him before you do modifications and don't let them try and fu-k U over and void your whole warranty for something as stupid as an air filter.
Next thing if a guy gets cocky with an MR . (which I hope that Most of us that will own one like me won't be ) Just remember we are on the same side Mitsubishi is mitsubishi. Don't know where you live but the people here in Florida that own Mitsubishi's respect one another wether it be VR4 or Eclipse GSX,GST,V6 3rd gen or reg EvoVIII, and by you saying when he gets cocky i'll blow his doors off is sinking down to his level, and what ??? makes you think that if you guys have the same mods that you will necessarily BLOW HIS DOORS OFF if you guys indeed have the same mods and are equally skillfull at driving..
P.S. Its just a thought (remember this is a Mitsubishi thread we are supposed to help eachother)

Do the votes of 400 forum members really represent what the 5000(?) owners of Evos are doing? As I said, the modders make the most noise and spend the most time around here. The stock owners don't spend as much time on the forum because they're not constantly pissing over whether Buschur or Vishnu is better.
If you go to an S2000 forum, you'd swear everyone is rolling a supercharger, $5000 of ICE, lowering springs, and 18s. Yet I've met hundreds and hundreds of S2000 owners over the years, and 3/4 of them are essentially stock. I don't think the Evos will follow that exact trend, as it tends to be a bit more mod-happy (car and crowd). Of the dozen or so Evo people I've met, the most highly modded one had a boost controller. I expect that to change, but I hope you get my drift.
Also, I take a bit of offense about your "serious car people won't stand for it being stock" comment. The Evo is more car than most of the assclowns here can use, especially on a regular basis. There's no need to mod it, no matter how serious you are - it's an incredible car from the factory. The MR is moreso.
How would you interperet this line then:
I can only read what you write, not what you mean. The release of the new Evo did not make your car slower. I would trade up my, soon to arrive, MR for a TME or a good Evo III any day.
I owned a Evos before, I'm not a bandwagon anything.
When I see an Evo drive by it is always a thrill they are just outrageous cars. I see the owner as someone who values performance over prestige.
If new Evo releases cause this much sturm und drang then we are in for a hell of a ride.
Have fun party on.
