If you look at all the past evos they always test them at nurburgring, which uses German plate. That is why the shape of it.

 

This magazine cover is from a magazine that's been published in japan. They didn't disguise it because like everyone else is saying visually there is not much of a difference from Evo 8.

^ that must be torture. The stick on liscense plate is a cool idea, but so far the best fix I have is just putting my front plate on my dash. It looks terrible on the front bumper.

Well, you're assuming a lot there, aren't you? Can you tell that these photos were taken in Germany? No. Even if it is in Germany, that bumper still wouldn't fit a Japan license plate now would it? Not fighting here, just pointing out a couple of things.

 

Evo always had been tested at Nurgburgring since I believe Evo V. The bumper they use doesn't necessarily have to be JDM. Look at these old test pictures of Evo 8 and STI Spec C.
