Problem holding 20psi to redline

Ok guys, I did all of my research and double check the installation numorous times. I have consulted with malibujack several times regarding the installation of utec and configuration. I have tried may different approaches to make my evo hold boost -- Tempering with the boost map and the vacuum hoses and nothing has worked. My boost behaves almost like a stock evo. It would increase and then spiked to 20psi at peak boost then quickly settled down to 15psi to redline. I bleeded the hell of the ABC and that didnt do jack ****. I put back in the second restrictor pill and that didnt do much either. I will give turboxs a call tomorrow to see what they can do for me. As of now, any help or input would be greatly appreciated. Thx..

Have you preassure tested your intake for boost leaks yet? Sounds exactly like a boost leak.

I'm going to do a pressure test on my evo this monday at DSA (Local DSM shop). Anybody have any clue why? Im pretty sure it's not a boost leak because I was able to hold 1.3 bar when the greddy profec B II before I installed the utec.

If everything is hooked up right, you might have a boost leak, or your DV isn't holding the pressure correctly.. I found a minor boost leak that must have been there for some time when I was working on my upper intercooler pipes, but it never affected my boost.

I have the greddy BOV with the single spring mod. I was able to hold 1.34 bar+ with the greddy before. Im going to do some pressure testing then call turboxs. My last resort will be replacing the greddy bov with the stock one. Will do some more testing later. Im going to compress the greddy's more to if my boost will improve. I did saw a one time 25psi spike. I did a WOT pull again and it didnt happen. A solid 15psi hold.

Boost leaks can pop up anytime. You should check for leaks regularly, because constant preasure tends to move things around quite a bit.

Sorry I didn't make it out Sat, I had a few spills on the wakeboard, trying to get my barrel rolls down . Anyway, what does you boost map look like? I left mine at the stage 2 settings and have a small taper at 5500 to redline. My abc has two complete turns out, and I still am running the vacuum line with the pill in it. My boost will spike to 1.5 and taper to 1.25 to 1.35. I say 1.25 to 1.35 because I can't really read it as it jumps back and forth so rapidly. I believe this may be to the utec working it's magic.

On a side note, I have seen txs new boost map that reads 75 across all load sites/rpms. My question is if you use this setting, do you just adjust the abc until you reach your target boost? If so, will this be more affective for masterevo?? I am thinking of trying this on my own, but maybe someone here has already tried this.

I don't know. I could never get the abc to run stock boost, in stock mode I hit 25psi! But the duty cycles for the solenoid for stage 1 and stage2 work fine, but I did run a new vacume line from the T (turbo - wastegate) so I wouldn't have to take off the pill, and add the abc. It's 3 turns out I think. I run 21psi tapering to 20 by redline, most of the duty cycle is in the 70% area (fine tuning).

Its always about fine tuning.. But many of the UTEC users are doing that, opening up the ABC to hit your target boost with whatever duty cycle works best for you.. I think the 75% duty cycle seems to allow you to more easily maintain the boost without the giant spike and then severe taper that running without the ABC with 100% solenoid duty would result in.

Just remember, the more that you open the ABC, the higher the "base level" of boost you'll get with 0% duty.. also like another poster said, in stock mode, you would get spiking due to additional bleed.

problem solved..it was a leaky greddy type s bov. The leak occured around the gasket of the bov. He replaced it with a stock one and now it holds 21 to redline. Just another reason to get a boostleak test
