Q: for all you using UCC

Is there a way to update the cars map with Utec Control Center while the car is running?
An overide switch when you start it up?

I love the SW especially since I can edit and modify all my maps from my sofa rather than sitting in the car working with a VT100 emulator but at the same time it's a pain in the @ss to disconnect the laptop from the tuner, tuner from the UTEC and then hook up the UTEC serial to the laptop if I want to make a slight modification to a map while in-car and the car is idling.
When I just give contact, I don't get the UTEC but the tuner and hence all the problems

no, but you can't upload a map at all when the car is running, even in the text interface..

and when you start the car, or turn on the key with the engine not running, you have to wait for the Tuner to warm up before you try to upload or download maps simply because its in a countdown mode, I have that problem too..

Ah, damn, I probably forgot to wait I know i'm hasty and impatient
And from what you explained over AIM, uploading maps doesn't work regardless.

I keep trying VI keys to move through the menus and then I remember it's different. Being a Unix guy can be a setback sometimes

Is it possible to make updates to the map somehow rather than full uploads, the equivalent of editing the fields through the text interface?

Yeah, not in UCC, its done through uploading and downloading maps.. The Text interface is interractive and will allow you to save maps to memory while your working on them

When I was developing the map editor, and I realized the UTEC had this limitation, I considered using the "interactive" editing instead of a bulk upload to work around it. But I figured it would be too slow so I didn't bother. It hasn't been a problem for me to shut the car off to make a change, but I don't have the Tuner, and I can see how the warm-up period would be annoying if you just want to make a quick map change. I'll look into adding an additional map upload option that would work while the car is running. In fact, the current map uploading is kind of slow, so this new option might be faster if you only have a few changes. Don't hold me to this though.

That would be great if you find the time to do it.
Anyways major props to you for this SW. I love it and I do all my logging with it and as of recently map edits.

BTW. today I wanted to calibrate my MAP and tried waiting for the warmup period of tuner and after it finished it still didn't connect to the UTEC so basically it doesn't connect to UTEC without engine being on. I always hated PnP.

I have not had a problem going through my tuner to load maps. You do have to wait for the 20 sec countdown. Do you guys have the new revison for the tuner? I have 1.6 but turboxs doesn't have it on their site yet. So if you want it pm me and I will email it to you. That might fix you problems.

Whats the difference between 1.5 and 1.6? I haven't even upgraded to 1.5 on mine since I don't really use my tuner much, but I never had trouble getting into UCC except uploading maps (I haven't tried to upload a map recently though)

I'm actually surprised I wasn't notified of a new tuner firmware.. unless its not for the Tuner Pro or they didn't know I had a tuner.

The revisions that tuboxs release are for both. This is what they told me at least. I was having problems logging onto the tuner then reflashed with this and all my problems were fixed. I never got a list of what was changed in this one. Obviously nothing important since they haven't even put it up on their site yet.
