How does your car run with an SAFC?

Im trying to get a basic idea of well the Evo runs on a tuned SAFC II.

DynoFlash bash's the hell out of it, but then again there is Buschur who seems like it...

Please give me your opinions on the SAFC II. Thanks.

I had the safc first and then a dynoflash. I like the Dynoflash better, and actually now Buschur prefers a flash over the afc, read his huge dyno thread. I plan to keep my safc for alky injection though.

Both are great tools, I'm getting my custom flash on wed and I already run an SAFC, so I'll have a better idea then. Another Evo owner dynoed 370 whp with his SAFC and pretty standard mods (tbe, mbc, intake, etc) on race gas.

Couldn't you just get a reflash which gets it pretty close then use the SAFC with a wide band to tune out whatever the reflash didn't get?

I know what you are saying. I just bought one a few days ago and im waiting for the harness. I asked a few questions about it and everyone started to bash the thing. Regardless I'm still am going to use it if and when i get a flash so i can get my money and time worth.

If you are planing on getting the SAFC II do not get a flash it will cause the AFC not to be as tuneable. It will still make the car smooth as hell . But it the problem im running into. The flash is limiting the tunning of the SAFC II has to do with the timming maps.

If thats true, can't you still use it to read certain sensors?

Ya. It just hiders it to make all the power. BUT if you have both its the safe way of doing it. It will cut down on power but drivabilaty will be there .

From what Im gathering theres no doubt a flash runs really well, but even if the SAFC isn't as good as it, that doesn't immediately make it garbage.

At this point the reason Im still interested in the AFC is the ability to tune it on MY car with MY tuner and with MY mods.

It's true. I tuned an AFC on top of a flash and it sucked. I get better timing from a AFC alone.
mooreboost, since you have a MBC, go with an AFC. You can dial it in to your mods exactly how you want it.

I had an AFC On my eclipse and now that I have an EVO I use it on that. I live close to a very reputable 4G63 specialist shop who told me this...."If you already have an AFC dont get a flash...only thing a flash does over an AFC is advance timing and remove fuel cut". I kept my AFC II and I am very happy. They gave me settings and I feel a HUGE difference with a catback, cone filter, and MBC set at 20 psi.

What is great about an AFC is that you can tune on the go...you add a part you can tune for it right there on the spot. You get a Flash and you have to send in your ECU everytime you get a mod that messes with the amount of air/fuel that is delivered.

I say this...if you going to do basic small mods (intake, exhaust, mbc) get the flash if you are goin to do everything else get an AFC II or alternate fuel management that doesnt require you to mail in your ECU. my 2 cents.

I'm prolly gonna get flamed for this, but oh well.

Wouldn't an AEM EMS solve all those problems (and be the safest)?
