Don't worry. I just bought a 2005 evo 8. So far it has 500 miles on it. I just installed a Apexi Power intake and I am waiting on my Apexi cat-back exhaust to come in. BOV in my opinion should not be changed from stock until you have some kind of engine management like AEM or ECUTek. I will wait awhile for the downpipe. Just remember to re-set your ECU everytime you add or change a mod.

should just have to disconnect the negative and mash the brake pedal to suck all the juice out of the ecu then reconnect or am I mistaken?

If your BOV recirc's you will have no problem and not need any kind of engine management BUT you should have engine management for the Apexi Power intake. Many people have experienced dangerously lean levals up top when changing to an aftermarket intake.

True, with the recirc's BOV. Yes that is also true about aftermarket intakes. I haven't notice any lean condition yet. But I did have the COBB Street Tuner on my previous STi with an Apexi intake and did make adjustment to the MAF sensor. Will see what happens with the EVO concerning the Apexi intake.

Do a search. Aftermarket intakes *can* make EVOs run very lean if installed without any tuning. Open filter intakes skew the MAF reading. So be aware! Other than that, happy modding!

Get your mods together and get the ecu flashed for them. If you add stuff later like cams, gears, fuel pump, injectors, front mount upgrade, lower intercooler pipe ect. then it will need to be reflashed again. Read up on here there ar a few threads about the best mods. Just search and you will get answers!
Welcome and good luck with your new car!!

I swear, if you don't go do a frickin search on what a FLASH is, I'm going to hound you until you never post again. You haven't done a single, damn search, and I know this because if you just put the word "flash" in the advanced search for titles only, you would see literally HUNDREDS OF THREADS. Not to mention the fact that one of our PRIMARY VENDORS has the word "FLASH" in the name of his business!!

You told me that you were doing Exhaust "and some other stuff" before doing the BOV and intercooler piping, but that must not have been true. I didn't believe it at the time, and I still don't. You really just want the piping and BOV for some unknown (ricey) reason and won't heed my warnings. The exhaust you are getting is good, but it's ridiculously expensive (don't need titanium, it's no faster and only a little lighter). For the price of the TI exhaust, you could get a nice stainless steel exhaust with a boost gauge and MBC and pick up 40-50whp. If you got a Megan exhaust, you could get all of that AND a base dynoflash for the same cost as the TI itself and get 60-70whp...
