SAFC Reading RPMS Incorrectly

Hello all,

I bought a USED SAFCII and a Fields Harness from someone in the classifieds last week. I got around to installing it this evening and playing around with it a bit. I've noticed that the RPM's read right around high 500's to low 600's at idle on the SAFC, however the tach says I'm hovering just above 1000 rpm's.

I went through and reinitialized the device, changed the cylinders to 4 and the Sensor type to Karman.

Since this worked on the prior owners car I'm wondering if there may be another setting that I should have hit after initializing the device. If not the next place I guess I'll have to look is the wiring, but it's just odd as the previous owners car worked with it. I don't seen an update in the SAFCII documentation from apexi-usa stating that there have been any changes in the wiring for the 05's, but that documentation could be outdated.

Thanks
Brian

May have found something, I re-read http://www.evotuners.net/forums/show...=&threadid=111 and at the bottom noted the following: RPM (green wire) needs to be spliced into pin 58, not 88. My greens in 88. So I'm going to go over the current wiring job and then splice it in to pin 58 and hope this resolves my issues.

This sounds right. I just fixed someone's tach input Sat. It was in the 50's like 52 or 58.

Don't have it working yet, the part that threw me off the most was that it was supposedly working before on their car. . . Then agin working != working correctly.
Hopefully once I get unlazy and go put it in it'll work correctly.

Edit: just came back in from putting the harness back on the car. It was wiring, go figure.

yeh, wrong wire splicing. that f'ed me up too.

they really need to change that direction up. after everything's done, it's in a small print, "sorry, you have to change the wire splicing".

doh!
