What's wrong with the factory box? It sources air from the front of the car and as far as I know it's not restrictive. Also it can be adapted to use an alternate suction pipe fairly easily.

I'll in the middle of fabricating something similar to below for my GT35R. I'll be running an AEM EMS so instead of the MAF there will be a 4" pipe coming off the factory airbox.

APS approach in interesting but not for me. I had a similar set on an other car and it didn't add anything.

The 2 things I am looking for are:

1.Cold air intake, a must, even for turbo car (data logging).
2. Air delivery with a minimal amount of turbulence.

That's right, I am going back to the stock air box... But only as a starting point... Working on air delivery to the air box.

I'm interested to see what you come up with. Please post updates.

Doesn't somebody make a scoop that replaces or enhances the factory scoop? IIRC it drops the collector down in front of the radiator in the area of the mesh screen of the bumper cover. I'll have to google and see if I can find that

Yes, I have found one by monster and one by kansai but they are way expensive and I also think air needs to come from two different places...

Working on it

I don't intend to flame you, this is an honest question: if you've had no result with a cold air intake (APS on "an other car"), do you believe you will see gains on an Evo?

I am an intake skeptic: I've had nothing but bad results in OPEN AIR intake in the past.

I am now considering the BMC CDA (as per link in earlier post). It is NOT a "bolt-on" kit, I'll have to think about how to best duct cold air onto the carbon cylinder. Considering I want to retain the I/C spray tank and part of the left bumper opening has been taken up by brake hose ducting, I foresee this may be a challenge...

why dont you just buy any regular intake(hks SMF) then custom make a fiberglass or cf pipe that will fit up to the stock ram air and wrap around the filter that way your actaully bringing in air from out side the car just as before with the stock airbox?

So from what i'm reading...beside a drop in there is not a better intake out there?
All pretty much sucks heat. Apexi and Hks is just another form of our stock intake box? I've seen the aps one and wouldn't the long piping cause a slightly longer lag?

My two choices so far is the Arc and the Hks rs.
