Autronic and knock controll

Ok since the PnP version of the autronic ECU doesnt have knock controll I was just curious if anyone has used a piggy back knock controller like the J&S safegaurd. The lack of knock controll is really the only thing that makes me think twice about the autronic

In my opinion a knock sensor is a good safeguard, but if a vehicle is properly tuned in the first place it is not really needed. In my experience with the Autronic it is a wonderful ECU and does a great job even without this feature.

Autronic is set to release an SM4 later this year specific for the Evo with knock control. Untill then run J&S or tune without it, it is not really necessary if set-up properly.

Mitch, my PnP was used only for a few hours, do you think autronics will allow me to exchange it with the SM4 version once it comes out?

The Autronic PnP wil have the Evo 9 connector not the 4 plug connector. I would also be surprised if it is released with knock control although it will have provision for a knock board as do the SM4 and MY01 onwards PnP boards.

Also, the SM4 is based on the Subaru board, not the other way around as most people think. The Subaru board was released first and the SM4 is a cut down version with not as many I/O pins. The Evo9 board will be the same as the Subaru board but with the Mitsu connector on the front instead.

Does this board use a wideband KS? Also what knock parameters are tunable by the end user

Till now there is no new news about knock module. The same will be available some time next year. I can see that there are many wrong info about this and some other subjects regarding autronic ECU.

Proper tuning does not need KS. The end of story.

Other LOGIC fact:
IF the knock control really works, would you ever see a melted piston?!
How come NO ONE EVER asks that question?!
