SAFC2 or UTEC

I cant make up my mind between safc2 and UTEC. which i should get? for safc2 i need a set of injectors 300+safc2 220+ tune service 100 which is around 520. for UTEC it is around 600 because i don't think i will need injectors for tuning the UTEC and i can either download the map or tune it myself. all prices are based on used items. the budget is almost the same but i don't know which is better. help me out please

I haven't had SAFCII but I can tell you that the UTEC is a much more sophisticated software and it will do many more variables for your car, it also cost twice as much.

I had it on my ex WRX and you can do a bunch of things with it(I did not like it though).

Warrtalon is running flat 12secand almost 114MPH on his MR using SAFCII and minor bolt ons(granted that he is a good driver)

These are fairly different products, the utec is capable of much more than an safc2, and has a much higher price point.

what are you trying to accomplish with either?

i am trying to tune it myself. i have a laptop which can work with the utec. the price seems like similar because if i go with safc2 i have to get the injectors (based on my tuner). imo utec is more powerful and i have more confidence to tuen it myself. but i also heard people said utec doesn't work really good somehow. i am totally new to turbo and mods i have now is tbe + mbc + fuel pump. what power i should expect now with utec?

ECU+
Tons of features including built in dyno to compare tunes.
Very easy to use also.

I urge you to do some more looking on ECU+. NO ONE offers you more customer service then Tom. I DARE anyone to show me a management system that offers the customer service that ECU + offers.

Very true. I had a few issues with getting a certain serial port adapter to work and he worked on it, sent me updated versions, and emailed me back quickly every time I had a question.
If you haven't checked out the ECU+ homepage, here it is:

I'm going with the Utec, either way with any of the systems I don't think you can go wrong.

If you're even considering the UTEC you should look at the Apexi PowerFC.

Otherwise, I say go with the SAFC.

...my 2cents.

SAFC is a great tool for basic bolt ons.....but as everyone has said The ECU+ can do so much more and depending on what you want in the future it's better to go with the ECU+.

Me persoanlly I am only going to do the SAFC cause I already have a reflash...but I am going to stop after cams and gears. I won't be running a larger turbo or lots of different maps, cause i won't track it to0 often.

Good luck with your decision....and this is just my opinion.

In opinion you should go with a unit that has control over timing such as the utec. The xede is also a good product. Shiv has staged maps that appear to be pretty good.

Just be aware that the PowerFC is a standalone unit and It may not be able to pass an inspection in your state if it eliminates OBD-II

What I find interesting is this is posted in the UTEC forum, and you are getting pretty honest unbiased answers.. I think the UTEC users probably have the most open mind when it comes to this stuff..
