Well, a friend of mine just bought an Evo8 engine (salvaged) which he intends to put into his Lancer Cedia. (A LOT of work needed).

Anyway, it came without and ECU, but we _know_ it came from an evo8. Now we were talking and I have lent him my stock 8MR ECU (I currently use a Ralliart Japan one).

Will it work with his engine? Will it blow up my ECU? Will it blow up his engine?

By the looks of things, the engine he bought looks stock.

 

Here in the U.S. the 2005 Evos all have the same engine and specifications for GSR, RS and MR, so the ECU would be no different. I'm not sure about other countries and you don't list where you live, but you did mention Lancer Cedia which is not a U.S. vehicle.

 

These will be JDM engines. Th Cedia is pretty much the normal Lancer in the US. In fact, here (in Thailand) they're called Lancer Cedia.
