optimum battery voltage at idle

hey guys,

I would just like to ask you if anyone knows the optimum idle batt volt for the car... i seem to be at the high 11volts mark right now and it feels weak... both power and electronics, even the clock seems to be quite weak. Does this affect hp?

I have the same problem. Just changed the battery to an optima. Then the voltage would just stay at 11 volts. Take you car to an autoparts store or use a clamp on amp meter on the battery with the car at 2500 RMPS you should see about 30 amps. My alternator is only putting out 6 amps.

Time to buy a new alternator...

I got it sorted out already bro, it was the alternator... bought a refurbished one from one of the millions of surplus stores here... it's better to buy this instead of having it fixed since it would cost the same... goodluck with you!

Did you install the alternator yourself? Was it easy?
