Hello,

I'd appreciate any help i can get with regards to tuning the Apexi PFC on my own. please read the questions below.

Background:
I live in Kenya, have an Evo 7. i purchased the Apexi PFC a while back and had no clue on how to tune it myself, so sent the ECU to a company in the UK for tuning.
They gave me a very safe map bc the car was not there to dyno tune it. The car is definitely slower than before when i had the original ECU from mitsubishi.

In my quest for a better tune i read the apexi PFC manual and have gained some knowledge on the ECU parameters that are visible on the hand held remote. I have been advancing the timing by 1 degree at a time across the map, and have noticed a slight power increase. (total advancement across the map is 7 to 8 degrees). I havent touched the fuel map or any other variables on the computer beside the ignition. With this ignition advancing, the knock still hasn’t gone past 10 on full throttle. Injectors reach a maximum of 85% on full throttle.

Questions:

1) Upto what point can I continue to advance the timing?

2) I havent touched the fuel cells yet, is there anything that can be done to them to give me more power or better response while maintaining the same levels of boost and ignition timing?
The injectors are at 85% with the current fuel ratios on maximum throttle.

3) What do i have to alter in the hand held remote to keep the injectors open when the throttle is closed / released? (trying to get some antilag backfiring)

4) What precautions should I take while making these changes?

The boost level is currently 20 psi after advancing the timing 7-8 degrees as said earlier. Injectors reach a max of 85%, and i am running on a 50-50 mix of av gas (100 octane LL) and 91 ron (unleaded premium plus)

Modifications:

Tubular SS Header, SS turbo outlet pipe, 3” downpipe, and through pipe to muffler (no Cat).

ARC induction system.

ARP head studs after engine rebuild, with WISECO pistons, ACL bearings all round, cometic head gasket.

NGK iridium spark plugs, BPR7EIS.

Walbro 255 Fuel Pump.

Autometer Boost and AirFuel Ratio Gauge.

Please guide me in the right direction.

Wow - my car feels quick as fuuk. Boost is between 20 and 23 psi on all gears
while knock stays under 20.

However i did notice the injectors maxing out (99.6%) and a warning flash on the speedo cluster at around 6600 rpm. Are there any precautions i should be taking?

I wish we had dynos in kenya - it would be interesting to know what kind of power my current setup has. would anybody like to make a guess?
