Using Two ECU'S

Quick question...

I have an evo IX. I was thinking about reflashing my ECU. I found another stock IX ECU for sale.

Am I able to flash that and then keep my stock ECU so I can swap it out if need be or are each IX ECU Vehcile specific?

Thanks.

well depending on the flash/tune that would be on the one it may not be safe to swap back to stock

ie: one ecu is flashed for your 50 trim/meth monster and then you slap in a stock ecu= not good!

what are you tryin to get at???

i could maybe see you getting a killer deal on a stock one... and have one tune and a race fuel tune???? only if the price was right!!!

My only mod right now is a TBE

I was planning on getting a vishnu v380 tune.

I was gonna buy the stock so I can swap from the vishnu tune back to stock for dealership....

What do you think?

Sounds like a great idea to me. The ecu on our mitsu's are pretty easy to access as well. To answer your question, yes another ecu will work..... make sure it's the same year of course.

If you have a laptop I think it would be easier just to buy a tactrix cable, then you can flash your ecu to the vishnu or stock rom whenever you want. Takes just a minute to do

+1

you would need to reflash the other/alternate ECU in order to change the immobilizer code anyways...just buy a Tactrix cable and save your stock map to your laptop/computer then if you want a dependable tune pay for an "e-flash" thats offered by a couple of different vendors. ie: TTP engineering, dynoflash, dunno if AMS does it or not....

You could switch ECU's but honestly it is a faster process just to reflash back and forth than switch ECU's, unbolt brackets, etc.

Hi

NO It's not complex just to flash in one |ROM or another, some PC literacy and common sense is just about all that your really need.

Nope, just flash back to stock like we discussed. Just tell Justin to save your stock ROM so that he can give you the stock and tuned ROMs. You save those on your laptop and be sure to get the Tactrix cable + EcuFlash software so that you can reflash yourself to stock when necessary. The thing is, though, it's not even necessary to flash to stock when you to go the dealer. They won't know the difference.
