Hey guys,

I just recently picked up my 2005 Evo VIII from a dealership in Houston TX used with about 35k on the odometer and was curious to see how you can tell if the car has had a custom flash done and if so by who? Is there some signature in the flash ROM file? I read that EcuTek puts a license in the file but any other way to find out? I just got the Tac cable and EcuFlash as well as EvoScan for logging and having flashes done but am curious to see what has already been done.

Look for a bunch of 7's or 8's in your timing map.

 

Can you give me a few more details? You mean in EvoScan at idle, during a pull?

 

Download the ROM from the ecu and compare it to a stock ROM for an 05 Evo. One of the forums has it posted where. If you can't find it, I can email it to you.

Can you go datalog your car as it is right now? Redza's was getting some knock with the stock flash on 93 octane; all he has is a catback exhaust.

 

I will do that tonight, I had about 5 logs, forgot to check knock sum tho I'll do it tonight and post log files later tonight!
