you can always get a "rally cat." Speedelement.com sells them, which I believe Road Race Engineering makes em.

You live in CA and I do to. You really do not want to run a test pipe in CA. The ticket is hefty if you get caught with a test pipe. With a test pipe your car would smell and the cops will have probable cause to pull you over. Get a HFC and all the smell goes away. There are some very good HFCs on the market.

well i got busted for not having a cat and it was only 250.00 dollars...that was in riverside. ill tell you what...if your in california...whatever you do. have either a HFC or something that looks like a HFC...never go with straight pipe in CA. beside the 250 i waited 14 hours in line at the courthouse which i just blamed a nonexistant shop for the install and told them i had no idea it was illegal...the judge dropped the ticket and i paid 20 dollars for processing....BUT i did have to wait 14 hours...

That's the same way with me. I do not want to change out my test pipe every time I get emissions tested. I went with a HFC. NO CEL's. What does everyone do who run a test pipe when it comes to emissions? Swap parts out? Sounds kind of like a waste of time to me.

I keep mine tp in. They only do a OBD II hook up. No cel you pass.

Go with the test pipe. The extra power will make you forget about emissions.

I have a testpipe now, and for many this sounds ridiculous but I'd like to go to a very conservative HFC. It's my DD, I want something really quiet and its ok if I loose power, I will make up the amount that satisfies my needs with the tune, MBC, etc. I was going to put the stock cat back on but it wont bolt up to my CB (weird huh?). What HFC is a good option?

I would recommend the Perrin HFC. I'm running it, the noise is a little louder, but no black bumper, no bad smells either. It uses a stainless mesh, and in theory lasts longer. Plus it's a full 3", stainless. You WILL have to do the CEL fix (search anti fouler). Mine was fine for a couple days then triggered. Did the $4 fix, and never seen it since!
