can you run a blow through MAF using the stock ECU as long as you buy the translator for the GM MAF?
are there any disadvantages running a blow through MAF with the stock ECU?

Technically, nothing. The MAF translator does a pretty good job of conversion. You can play with the MAF scaling table for fine tuning, but usually there are adjustments on the MAF translator that accomplish the same thing.
you can run a vta bov with no problems at all
also the air temps are going to be lower since the air going through the MAF has already went through the intercooler. it will help the car run a little better.
another reason for this is if your running a lot of power you dont want the stock MAF sensor since its a small diameter, so people upgrade to a 3-3.5" GM MAF

There is also less restriction before the turbo so it usually helps spool and overall throttle response. I had the setup on my DSM but there were also a few people who claimed the readings weren't as accurate as the stock maf.
dejonpowerhouse.com sells them, which is where I bought mine from. You pretty much tune the box rather than the ecu. But you will have to make some changes as far as tuning the ecu
mach evo sells everything you need for doing this
unless you need to do this upgrade(running lots of horsepower and need the bigger MAF)... i wouldn't convert
it costs about $750 to run this set-up if you dont already have a small battery kit

$750 my ***..... You dont need a small battery Kit, go to walmart and buy battery tiedowns.
Tiedowns-$10
GM sensor on Ebay- $40
Translator-$199
Dejon ICP-$145
No more than $400
On a big turbo I would recommend it, I got a lot better spool up with it and The stock MAF Screen will get sucked up at about 450-500whp a lot of times.
