I know Evos run rich straight from the factory but are you able to une them so they won't run rich or do they have to?

only their top end is rich!

you can do it with a little bit of effort you need, tactrix cable + wideband o2

I would say that the high octane fuel map is rich. You can lean it out quite a bit, making sure you're safe by looking at knock sum.

Pick up a tactrix cable here: http://www.tactrix.com/product_info....844eb0170f297a
If you plan on doing a lot of tuning for accuracy, then go with a wideband. However, it is not necessary especially if your leaning out a stock map.

Like almost all cars, Evos don't have to run as rich as they come. You will see a huge difference by leaning out your mixture. Furthermore, you will most likely see an increase in MPG. Let me know if you have further questions or are looking for someone to lean out your map. I know some good tuners for this who can help you out while keeping costs at a minimum.

they are overly rich from the factory, leaning it out and advancing timing and boost can get you some pretty good gains if it's done right.

That's my stock dyno. It drops in to the 9's just after 6500 RPM.
