Why would you spend $700 for the same or less features that ECUflash and a competent tuner can deliver for less than $100?

its just a neat gadget to have. Plus I live by AMS who pro tunes for this AP and theres software coming out for it thats far more precise then ecuflash and I can switch maps on the fly so easy its scary!

Deny--

hey am I only telling you what happened on my car and what COBB posted in the forums how their base maps control boost without a MBC/EBC.

If your evo is fine without it then that is killer

I think I will not repond anymore to peeps who want to tune using different methods..........

its all good tune the way you want I am glad I spent my $$ on the AP

I wasn't being a dick or a troll, I was being serious. Surely Cobb has features to offer over ECUflash that would make it worth the $$ in the consumer's eyes. Thats what I was wanting to know about.

A418t81- give them a few months to release a few more gadgets for the AP and then the pro's and con's of Accessport vs Open Source will be more clear.

For the Pro's go here, you will see the cool features in action:

Current Cons:

- no self tuning software, but this is a guarantee to come! (possibly pre 2008 from what I'm learning, no promises though)

Not a CON to me, but a Con to some:

- price (I'm fine spending the cash, but some people aren't. I can't change the price part. I do not consider it a Con based off of the features the AccessPORT delivers.

I'd say in about 2 months time the CON list will be non existent. This unit is not a stand alone, but it is guaranteed to deliver more than a Open Source flash ever has or ever will, just give it a few months to do so I'm not saying this is the end all reflash product.

I am really up in the air right now. I dont know much about the tuning side as far as ecu flasing and what~not. I'm learning still, but I do know that I just put my buddy's 07 STi to stage 2 using the AP and a Tanabe Concept G Blue catless TBE and It's amazing. Before that he had an 06 WRX stage 2 with the Cobb TBE (catless) and it too was amazing. Right now I have a 3" TBE and have really been considering the AP, but I also am wanting to get some cams, hotside, o2 housing and a new FMI with piping. I'm going to be moving to the Fredricksburg, VA area here soon and dont know where I could get a pro-tune....I'm so friggin lost as to what to do...

It sounds like COBB will be dedicated to offer more maps on their website for users with additional mods....cams are pretty common so i would think that is in the works.

but....look how many cats out there are getting tuners to fly into their area....who's to say down the road a good PRO-TUNER couldn't come out to where you are if there were enough guys lined up he could tune.

Just throwing out ideas...also on COBB's site it will list PRO-TUNERS...maybe one is closer than you think

Has anyone that has bought the AP taken their Evo to the dyno to see what the different stages actually put down to the wheels?

Yes.

Check the thread by IA Performance...the first 4-6 pages show results.

Plus...I am running stage 2 91oct and put down 288 peak TQ and 285 peak HP.....baselines were 242 each....although I had one baseline run where hp only hit 236.....MUSTANG DYNO all numbers.

So IMO the stage 2 #'s I hit are really respectable considering it is a generic map all evos can use.......plus I have only seen like 1 maybe 2 knocks here or there.....once again 91oct. with almost no knock

more than likely that could be addressed with the tuning software that will be released soon.

then again for the base maps maybe it doesn't matter....but i don't know
