Smile Access port install Evo8! WOW

I just installed my new cobb access port and it was everything i thought it would be. It has alot of cool features and was setup in minutes. I installed there stage 2 map and noticed slight increases over the AMS flash that i had installed prior. I then installed the software on my computer and noticed that they had a 100 octane race map on the cd and i had some left over 110 octane in the tank and the ride was GREAT. Lots of pull smooth power band and zero knock. I would recommend this to anyone with a evo. I know there will be many more maps and software to have fun with. Switching maps on the fly has never been so easy. It also quoted a 0-60 time of 3.4s and a 60ft time of 1.6 with a two step launch! Cant wait to get a few dyno tunes by AMS.

Sounds awesome. I plan to buy the AP and their TBE next month, really looking forward to it. Do you have the Cobb TBE or another exhuast?

We flashed a few customer cars this week with the Cobb AP one was a 9 and the other an 8. Both pulled very hard and the power was very smooth. Both cars had a catless turbo back exhausts. This is a very nice unit. Once people see how well these work they will be just as hard to keep on the shelves as the Subaru units!

Yes this thing controls the boost great! You dont need a wideband unless your going to do your own tuning. To do that you would need the street tuner software which aint out yet!

Do I have to remove a restrictor pill? I know there are plenty of hows tos but I'm just wondering if the directions that come with the AP actually say you have to remove one?

Not true if you want the stock ECU/boost control system to control boost you have to remove the secondary restrictor pill......COBB has a complete write up on this that Christian posted back in Dec. 06.

Now if you want to use a MB/EBC like most EVO owners do then don't worry about taking out the pill

Secondly, I got flashed yesterday and was shocked at how much power the regular 91 octane map did. The car pulls a heck of alot better from 3000 all the 7000.......no real drop offs at all...the whole power curve is radically different

But I still hold out that once Pro-Tune software is out the power should get better by I bet by at least 10% over this base map

IX LIVES...COBB TUNED....IA Performance Perfected!!!!!!!!
