Innovative wideband wont work.
I just got done with installing my wideband. When i go to try and log it on the computer everytime it goes through found new hardware it says it cant find serial port for the device. It does come with a serial port but my laptop doesnt have one so i got a usb adapter. Im not sure what the problem is i cant find a trouble shooting section from innovative yet. If anyone encountered the same problem advice would be appreciated.
Two things I can think of,
1. Install latest drivers for your serial-to-USB adapter
2. Serial connection goes in the "OUT" connection of the wideband controller. Terminator plug goes in the "IN" connection of the wideband controller.

when we tried to use a serial to USB adapter with our AEM EMS to tune our formula car we have issues with it. Some people even report the adapter ruining the EMS. They are finicky converters. The recommended fix is to get a PCMCIA to serial converter that fits in the PCI slot in your computer. This should work for you. Good luck.

Thanks for the help i thought it was going to be a issue with the serial adapter but i went home and decided to try it again and it worked. Im not sure what it is i had put the dual stereo plug and left it for the night came back to it yesterday and started it up and ran the logger and it was fine. My afr was a 7.3. lol. Thats only at idle but i assume its still bad and i was right in saying it was runnig really rich.
well not sure if u followed the instructions of calibrating w/ free air before tuning but u need to do that. yeah i hate using those adapters, rather get a cheapo laptop wich serial to use

Thanks but yah i did the free air calibration a few times nevermind. I thought maybe i didnt do something right after i re-installed the DP so i took out the censor with the DP still on b/c i didnt feel like taking it down again seeing im working off a floor jack that broke with the car on jack stands last time.lol. But i re did the calibration it went to lean and so on. I have the LC-1 hooked up to a Autometer AFR gauge for now and it reads it so i assume its working.

The lc1 is very sensitive. Have to ask did you do the heater calibration? I used to get your issue. It read all the way lean or rich. If you unhook either the serial cable sterio plug or terminator plug while lc1 has power it can cause issues. Moving either of those 2 wires while power is on might mess it up too. hat was my issue. I never unhooked those plugs but moving them around I would start to get errors. I went into LM programmer and the reading settings got changed from A/f to custom setting. Just a thought man. Go into lm programmer and check
www.tuneyourengine.com they have a whole section on your product in the forum.

Thanks guys i think it was actually like kreionic said about the wires being moved a lil while you are trying to run the program. Probably the serial adapter because you cant screw them together which ill figure something out maybe some good ole electrical tape. But i went home and i tried it again and it was fine program started up fine reading the LC-1. My gauge is working and it was reading and logging so i guess im good. Thanks for the advice guys.
