Question: Removed DynoFlash tune and set back to stock
I had a friend of mine complain about how his car wasn't running up to par like it should be. He had a Dynoflash tune on there and I unlocked the ecu and used my stock map with his immobiliser code. The car runs fine now but I feel like I should just ask to make sure that I did it right. Before you ask, the Evo's are the same model year although mine is about 2 ~ 3 months newer.
If I'm just being a worry wart about it then disregard I just wanted to make sure that I did it right so he can get tuned by someone that doesn't lock they're mailorder tunes.

How long was his car running like crap with the dynoflash. The reason I ask is the flash is kind of a cookie cutter flash so i doubt there was anything wrong with it. More than likely he had a bad tank of gas or had had a bad tank of gas and the car was running a the low octane map.

But AL's also notorious for having high and low octane maps the same

Eariler this year the two of us went to a open house dyno session over here in st.louis. It was 3 runs for 40 bucks with A/F ratios being read, on his 1st run his car started to fluctuate on the upper RPM band and the run had be aborted. The dyno operator figured it was the dyno and ran the car again. On the 2nd run is was more noticeable and the computer shut down the run because A/F raitos were out of wack. The two of us had been trying to figure out what exactly went wrong with the tune and didn't get anywhere until I had picked up my laptop and logged a few runs. I went into evoscan with the ecu unlocker and I couldn't read any of the fuel maps but the timing map was crazy. Either the program couldn't be read correctly or while the tune was sent back to him it had become corrupted.
I thought a multitude of problems that it COULD be:
Old Plugs
Bad Gas
Bad COP
boost leak
Everything that could be replaced has been or has been checked so I finally boiled it down the ecu tune.
Today he went back to the dyno and completed 3 runs without an incident ( for what I know ) however he had lost 30HP because he is now on my stock map.
Al tunes conservative...you guys should have trouble shot before changing maps. Jumping on a dyno with old plugs, boost leak test...doubt its a bad COP. Bad gas? maybe...
Did you try and contact him?

As far as you being worried if you did everything correct, you changed the immobilizer that was the most important thing. Everything else is pretty much easy he obviously needs another tune now. As far as his old maps, I would have just sent it into mellon or ttp to make sure there was something they could have determined.
