05 ECU into 03 Evo VIII shell
Here is my situation:
I recently totaled my 05 Evo VIII and have since bought an 03 Evo VIII shell to which I will be transplanting my crashed Evo VIII into. Now, the 03 Evo has NO drive-train at all to speak of (engine, tranny, t-case, diff, etc.), although it DOES have the engine bay wiring harness. It does NOT have the 03 ECU. Now, it has been difficult getting to the bottom of this question, but I apparently CAN use my 05 ECU as long as i also swap the immobilizer ECU. The 03 has the original ignition wiring and harness, including the key, however, I can swap the 05 ignition and key into it if that is also necessary. I need input and any help, so as to avoid any potential nightmares. Thanks in advance!

What about disabling it entirely? I read that if I change my immobilizer code in my ECU to HEX 0xFFFF, it will effectively disable it, letting me use the 03 key, etc. Thoughts?
