n00b question

Ok, I own a 2005 Evo 8 with intake, exhaust, hks 262 cams, precision injectors, at 21psi. I am currently using a Turbo XS UTEC to tune and my last dyno was 392awhp at 24psi.

I am not to happy with the tune because it's running way too rich at lower rpm's and a little lean at higher rpms, its robbing power and i'm worried about overheating at the track.

i have a good understanding of engines, fuel systems, ect. but i have never actually tuned a car with software before.... am i in over my head or do you think i can manage if i get walked through how to use the software?

i just don't want to F*** up somehow you know, but i don't trust tuning shops in my area and can't afford to send it off.

any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!!!

what kind of dyno did you run at to get that power?
also I'd stick with the stock ECU and get a mail in flash by some of the vendors on here. Is this Turbo XS UTEC an Engine management system?
also get an A/F ratio gauge.

to tune yourself you need to have a real good understanding of air/fuel ratios, timing adjustments, definatly a lot of learning involved...check out the write up in the ecuflash forum on here its pretty good at explaining things in basic form

i have an Autometer narrowband A/F gauge and the Turbo XS wideband A/F gauge built into the UTEC. A simple mail-in flash won't get me to where i need to go, and the UTEC is one of the more advanced piggyback systems in that it allows you to adjust timing, injectors, knock sensing, boost, ect. with a few keystrokes

392 awhp at 24psi with a stock turbo evo 8 turbo and no head work and tiny cams, that sounds awfully high unless you've got high octane/timing

anyway, I have links to the software and a video tutorial for how to download the rom etc... might help you get started www.mellontuning.com
