Cobb TBE getting louder and louder
I had the crack welded at an exhaust shopt but it seems to still be louder.
I think I'm going to have to contact cobb. Did they need a reciept of purchase or something? I dont think i have the reciept anymore plus I bought it from a vender here and not directly from cobb...
This **** is pissing me off. All I want is a 3" straigth flow through that is quiet as possible and something always goes wrong with all my cars that I have had.

call and let them know whats going on.....get into contact with the vendor you purchased it from they will usually have copies of your invoice and I dont think it would be a problem for them to email a copy to you.
A final suggestion for all thinking of this system.
I have to be honest and unbiased and tell everyone that Cobb simply does not have their manufacturing capabilities up to par to warrant vending their EVO TBE system. They truly need to go back to the drawing board (or Autocad workstation).
My experience shows that since the first warranty claim to replace the gouged muffler and cracked mid pipe, and the welds which failed on mine much as BluEVOIX's pic shows, I have not had a single duplicate system shipped that worked and fit 100%.
I have had 5 catback systems shipped to me to rectify what was to be a simple fix to my dilemma. The whole time patiently waiting sometimes 3 weeks to just "see".
So far I've not had a single issue with the downpipe and high flow cat that normal installation "tweaks" wouldnt fix. Things "go south" from there back.
Mid pipe lengths have always been different lengths as well as muffler pipe lengths and hanger rod weld placement. This last time I took actual measurements and sent pictures to Cobb with no reply. I'm sure they are as embarassed as I am unsatisfied. Cobb always asks for proof.
I have shock absorber rubber bumpers on the frame hangers (they fit nice for the application) to hold the tailpipe centered in the bumper cutout as well as to keep the flange end of the muffler/mid pipe from hitting the cars frame components.
I've had to purchase a new rubber hanger and heat, bend, and polish the flange end hanger rod to keep from ripping another one.
Welds are still as I described them, red rusty-looking welds, and inadequate fill rod from TIG welding which invites failure.
I guess I have 2 options. Keep it (which I guess I will and bite the bullet) or find another catback system (or complete system) from someone else. I would hope evolutionm.net pulls the review of this system so as to not encourage others to purchase it. Until they get their stuff together that is.
I truly wanted to put the highest quality parts, no-holds-barred, on my car. This aint it. If it fit like the Borla systems I've had in the past on other cars, my rant would not be here.
sup!

I sold my catback, but before selling it I verified that it is not the muffler that made the louder noise.
The welds around the flanges are all fine. Its just the weld on the resonator itself, where the straight peice mates with the reducer before reaching the exhaust pipe. The reason it cracks is because who ever manufactures the resonator sands down the welds in order to buff it flush with the mirror surface. But by doing that they are thinning/weakening the weld and it splits open from the day to day stress put on it.
I still think its a good exhaust because they offer something that no one has. Full Stainless steel and non tapering quiet system.

I know this is an old thread but I figured I would give my 2 cents. I used to own a wrx. I ran the COBB TBE with racepipe on my rex. Fit awesome and had no problems what so ever. I only mention this cause in a previous post someone asked about subie owners and COBB. Even with the high-flow cat I had no problems.
Now I currently drive an EVO which with this car I choose AMS TBE. Im actually kinda shocked to read all this about COBB's TBE. Again now after reading all this I am glad I didnt choose the COBB tbe. But they did get the system right for all the subies. Cant understand what happened when making it for the EVO's.

I dont know if you guys got a product that was produced on a (Friday !) or what, but ive had the whole set up for a while and its great.works, sounds, and looks great. Sucks that you guys got a bad product, but its only a handful.
I would recommend Cobb products to everyone, buy them fom a good vender though.

I have a Cobb CBE on my car and it installed easily. Looks fine. No leaks (yet). Although the previous owner had to get a part rewelded but fine other than that.
Also, with a full catless tbe, the cobb isn't as quiet as some people say it is.
