Autronic with knock control!!

Hey guys I recently looked into getting a knock light for my VIII since the Autronic boards don't have knock control or knock logging. I was pointed towards http://www.viatrack.ca/, however others like the knock box and phormula units would work as well.

Knock can be logged and the timing can be retarded when sensed using the analog input for the anti lag, and using the mode for analog I/P. I don't have it set up yet but Ian @ autronic is helping me out once the knock sensor is in my hands.

I am using an SMC 1.99

well wtvr u do, don't get the knockblock from linkecu as it has no way to lower the gain with rising rpm which makes the signal ompletely saturated and useless for logging and retarding timing in the ecu.

linkecu?? Never heard of them, and I would'nt buy just anything to monitor the most impotant aspect of tuning my car. This is a brand new built short block...I mean BRAND NEW, I destroyed the stock block by melting 3 pistons and breaking a wrist pin...so I have learned ALOT over the past 5 years of owning this car. The GREATEST thing I have learned is DONT buy cheap/crappy parts. You must research everything before buying it, or make sure you ask someone that cares what to buy. If you do both, you can also gain an understanding of why you do certain modifications.

When you order the viatrack unit they ask you what cylinder bore you are running and calibrate the unit accordingly. You also have the ability to adjust the gain, and they give you a variety of options priced so affordably that the guy is probably not turning a profit on them. This is not a big time company, with advertising and such. Its probably one guy thats really smart and knows alot about electronics, who loves to race. I am going to get it, based on cost and who recommended it. Also the miata community are loyal to the unit so I am confident that it will work well for me.

well the knockblock wasn't a cheap or crappy part and quite a few people use the knocklink from the same company. the knockblock does have gain attenuation and frequency selection control, but like most products do not have rpm dependent gain adjustment. hopefully, what you're getting processes the signal better and you have a useful output at high rpm. i actually just got tired of waiting around for the autronic based knock control and pulled out my sm4 and have gone back to the stock ecu especially since it's excellent knock control system has been disassembled and is fully tuneable now.

The knock sensor should be adjusted to the higher rpm's anyway. I would love to get the J and S safeguard unit but thats a little out of my budget right now.

The final testing is almost complete for the SM4 based Evo knock control, Reports from Autronic is the unit will have a sell learning feature and works very well and reports of 8 to 10kw coming from it when fitted.

It is a Autronic product and the info on it came directly from Richard Aubert at Autronic.

awesome news! I called Ian Hamwood at Tech Support two days ago and haven't received a call back. I have some questions about wideband.

Ian has done a lot of testing with the knock board so you can pick his brains on it.
