How would you know?
Hey guys, can anyone tell me what is the easiest way to know if your car has been tuned or re flashed if you bought it used? I found out my car had a walbro fuel pump installed, but i don't know if it has been tuned for it or I'm just running rich. Any ideas ?
Since the Walbro flows approx. 60% more than stock (255lph vs. 160lph stock, see: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/f...pflowrates.htm), I would say it's highly likely that your car has been tuned.
What I would be more worried about if I were you is that people typically only add a high flow fuel pump as a supporting mod for other power mods. If the car was tuned for the other power mods, and the previous owner then swapped those parts back to stock without retuning the car again before selling it to you, then the tune may not be optimized for the car in its current state.
Luckily, there is a specialist Evo tuner in the Santee area of San Diego i.e. Reese Tuning (http://www.reesetuning.com, new address: 8711 N Magnolia Ave, Santee, CA 92071). They have just upgraded to bigger and better premises and installed a brand new Mustang dyno only a couple of weeks ago.
I would call them up so they can:
1. check over the car to make sure everything looks good, and
2. dyno your car to make sure AFR, boost etc. is all safe
P.S. Come on over to the San Diego County forum on SoCalEvo.net, since a lot of San Diego Evo locals hang out there:
