Modding without tuning?

Looking at an EVO IX MR that has a full TBE without a cat, intake, one or both IC pipes (can't remember off the top of my head) and the car is running without a tune. There's no CEL because the user has the CEL mod done so that it can pass NYS inspection. Car ran and drove just fine.

My question is... is this "bad" for the car? I mean obviously it won't be up to its full potential, but is it going to have the air fuel ratio's screwed up to the point that it may damage the engine?

Chances are it's fine with those basic mods, but it's never a bad idea to log the car and get the engine compression and leak-down checked.

Yeah, I told the guy I wanted to take it in to a mechanic to have them check stuff. His preferred dealer is on the blacklist thread, but either way I guess... I'll make sure I cover my ***.

How do I log the car (what will this show me)? Also, its just the TBE, UICP, and a K&N Drop in... so no LICP.

The stock tune is so rich, I think you can bolt on all you want and turn the boost up a pound or two and be fine.

Haha... thanks. I've been reading up, but I still have tons of newbish questions (see my boost controller thread in general).

I'm doing my best to search and learn... bear with me.
