Honestly I think from all of the comments on here you have to remember guys there are different kinds of tuners. There are teh extreme less conservative tuners and there are the conservative safe tuners. When tuners tune your car you will have other tuners who push their cars to the limit compared to others who tune their cars conservatively safer than others.

Big Al I think is a tuner who pushes his tunes too much to the edge from what it seems which overwhelms the motor since he tries to get more and more out of it. Not taking sides at all but thats what I have come to my conclusions. Anyone else know of any other tuner that tunes less conservatively?

There are people who push the setups hard, and still have a low rate of failures and then there are tuners who don't give a **** about their customers or their setups and flail around in the tables like a bull in a china shop and have a many year history of grenading motors left and right. When a bull in a china shop tuner also has a well documented rep of shady business practices you should probably just avoid them.

Just remembered how he got caught faking a customer review of his services. I'm not sure how he was able to live that down...

the only thing I knew about him originally is he would troll NASIOC telling the subaru community how inferior their cars are and bragging about his dyno numbers and quarter mile times (teh lehm). now he's a subaru fanboi? I'm confused.

I've been a member for 6 years and still a newbie. I don't post much so take my comment anyway you guys want. I will share that this guy made an *** of himself in Guyana where he brought his big mouth as carry on baggage but forgot his ability to deliver at the baggage belt at the airport. Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) laughs at the individual.

His videos racing nobodys are hillarious.

I saw your car a couple of weeks ago with no engine in it, nice clean evo 9 good luck with the engine build.

Your a brave one for going to Pruven. I have heard HORROR stories from that place. Even seen a "Pruven" intercooler......... It was a fricken ebay core with there logo welded on it and customer charge $1000+. I would have the car tuned by either The Shop CT or the guys over at Dynotech Tuning (forum sponsor). Both are very reputible shops. Whoever you are closer too would be your best bet and I know they both will hook you up.

Hey think what you want about Pruven, everybody is entitled to their opinion. I can't say anything bad because they have always giving me good service. Bill over at Pruven is a good guy and knows how to tune cars. Until I have a bad experience with them I will use them.

I remember when AMS found 4 cracked pistons they tried to say AMS did that not them.
Dude you and I know a certain tech/tuner who Dan didn't even pay to work for him so what does that tell you. Another rise and fall type of story. I'm kind of at the point in my life I would rather just do the work myself.

And you know what I really don't care if I get warned by a mod. I have only dealt with 4 great tuners. Petey Turbo, Junior Tune, Kenny Tune @ The Shop CT, and John Visconti @ The Shop CT. For example as we all know the AMS Alpha GTR is insane and is tuned on a COBB AP. Well John along with ECUTEK has created a Rom for it similar to Tephra Mod. The Shop CT GTR is the 3rd fastest in the nation if I'm not mistaken. The four guys I mentioned all know Al very well and have probably been motivated by his sub par work

Al is a ****ty tuner end of discussion. Not only are his maps land mines for WOT pulls, he cant even tune for engine warm up enrichment, drivability, idle, or anything else that involves time and finesse.

I know everyone here is entitled to their own opinion so i will say my two cents here as well.
Al tuned my 2004 wrx and made around 370whp i never really had a problem with the car after the tune and was my daily driver.the car run really good until last evo vs subaru when i ran 13.0 @107mph and this i was babying the launch since i didn't wanna break my tranny.Someone was watching me at the etown all the way home because it was stolen the next day.
What i wanna say is that Al is a good guy if you get to know him and he knows how to make power, also i am sure for those people that blow their motor after the tune is probably because they give Al the go ahead to squeeze all the **** out of their car.He always gives you a choice Dyno or no dyno?when i reach a certain power i would tell him that's enough so he knows when the customer is please.I see alot of people have him keep pushing their cars its all about what the customers want and he tries to please them.I won't judge him like that and i will continue to recommend anyone to him if they need a tune i think he is a good tuner.
