cyclic or rotational idle for cool down purposes

cyclic or rotational idle for cool down purposes

What does an ecu do to the hardware to achieve cooling of exhaust? Ive read fuel cut is the proper way to cool down the engine. Is this the only cut being used? Or does an ignition cut become?applied too.
