noob question about tuning. wideband

1.) Do you have to drill a hole into the Downpipe to install a wideband gauage or is it possible to remove the orginal one and replace ut . and connect the log wire to the ecu? (AEM wideband)

2.) the car has got hks open airfilter , and 3 " exhust and test pipe all the way.
the car does overboost today because of that , how do set the tune not to cut the boost fore mee? Im avare of that i will need to change the fuletable a bit so it wont run lean , at high rpm and load ,

how do i set the boost load tables?

Will use EVO SCAN and ECUFLASH to tune the car,

im nog going to make big changes to the tune djust make shure the car runs good and dosent lean out ,

Most down pipes will have a bung already welded into them for installing a wideband, if your talking about the stock downpipe then yes you will need to drill and weld a bung in, unless you want to use the rear o2 sensor which if you still have a cat won't give you a proper reading.

The best way would be to install the wideband before the cat, and then remove the rear o2 sensor and plug that bung. Then using the wiring that is left over form the rear o2 to wire the AEM into the ecu. That's what I did and it works great.

For the 2nd question it seems like you are talking about 2 different things, is the car overboosting and you want to get it undercontrol? or is the car hitting boost (also called fuel cut) and shutting down the power?

The boost table is fairly obvious if you look in the rom, and you need to make sure that fuel cut load is high enough (or boost low enough) so that you aren't activating that. Also there is just a table called fuel cut in the fueling section of the rom.

But it will depend on what rom your using.

Thanks fore the info .

Everything is mutch lighter now , thanks, Will weld a bung into the down pipe.

Yes the car doe hit fulecut , Peeak boost is some time 1.4bar
Will change the tables a bit

The only question lest that i got , How do i Wire the AEM into the ECU ?
I mean , Witch cabel to connect , to wotch cable ?,, e.c.t .

On my car since I ditched the rear o2 sensor, I just wired in the 5v analog wire from the wideband to the correct wire on the rear o2 sensor harness. (I believe it was the yellow wire pin 73 on the evo ix ecu),

then you just go into evo scan and rename the rear o2 sensor logging request to wideband and change the formula to reflect whatever wideband you are using.

It is possible to mount thewideband sensor my testpipe . ( alredy have got a bung wellded there )
so it will be simpel "plug and play " or do i need to dirll a hole into the downpipe and mount it more close the turbo ?

yeah thats fine, the only reason you see alot of them in downpipes is that it must be before the cat or it will read lean. Since you don't have a cat you could put it in the muffler and it would still be usable. The closer you are to the engine the more precisely what you see on the gauge will match what the engine is actually doing. Since it takes time for the exhaust charge to move down to the sensor. But in the test pipe it won't really matter.
