Wanting to atleast make 400hp/tq
Wanting to atleast make 400hp/tq
How possibl is it to make 400hp/tq with these supporting mods?
FPblack
FP inlet with k&n filter
ETS 3.5 fmic, buschur licp
Stock UICP w/ TIAL Q valve
ARP headstuds
Kelford 272 cams
Buschur exhaust w/ resonated test pipe
MAPerformance 02 dump
1250 FIC injectors
Walboro 255
Blox lower engine mount
Comp stage 2 clutch
RRE lightweight flywheel
FullRace tubular pro-stock manifold with ceramic coating + heat wrap
It came with the black when I bought it and haven't been pushing more than 20lbs. Too afraid to blow the stock block. I'm also upgrading the springs and retainers to the kigglys or BCs. Torn between the 2. And I'm also eventually going to build the block up and the head. It will also be tuned on pump fuel. All we have out here is 91 octane. So, what do you guys think? Any input would be much appreciated. Anything I should think about swapping out, look into, Mistakes you've made? Thanks.

What HP/TQ numbers are you tuned at now? This will help others answer your question or at least offer up suggestions.
I'm not too educated on this subject but I've read that it is all about the tune on a stock block with wanting to achieve that torque figure....400 tq is a lot on a stock bottom end and most will tell you to not exceed that number and others will tell you you can with the right tune. So, having said that, lets see what others say.... Hell you might already be close to that figure and not know it.

Here's the background, when I bought it, she was my first Evo. And the guy said it was at 510hp/480tq. Still stock block. Crazy i know, but I was young, and naive haha. Well the following day I was getting on the freeway and the time bomb went off and got a new window added to the car. Cams weren't salvageable. But the black was still good so I kept it when I got a new block and head. Well when I got her up and good and went for the tune I forgot the 272s weren't there anymore but had stock ones from the new block/head swap. So bad tune, but she's at 310hp/304tq right now. I got the kelfords on the way. So now I'm a little more wise. Don't want to go over the 400 mark. Don't want to push to much boost on stock block either with the black. And hell, I'm still up in the air about keeping the black. I love how it works when it kicks in, but at the same time, not to practical either.

Seems all you need is a boost controller. At 20lbs, the fp black isn't even getting started. Try and find something on the results sub forum. There's plenty of people with similar setups shooting way past the 400 mark. On stock block you'll want to keep it less than 400 thou. Find yourself a good tuner and you're golden!
there is another thread on here about a guy with a similar situation and the guy has an FP Black and only runs around 20-21 PSI...not sure if he has the built bottom end or not..but he does have other supporting mods.....(from what I gathered from the comments and so forth on that thread) he's not really utilizing the turbos full potential at that boost level...Maybe that's what he wants....Not sure. BUT, he too was skeptical about upping the boost and possibly blowing the block...wish I could find it for you.
You might be better off with an FP Red or FP Green or similar turbo that will fit on your exhaust manifold to take advantage of closer to stock spool and far more useable HP/TQ curve! But its all about what you want to do with that power...DD street killer, lower quarter mile times, auto x, road coarse...
Do you have access to e85 fuel?

Yeah I've got a chevron down the road from me that sells e-85. I'd also like to find that thread. Sounds a lot like me. I might think more into the turbo and see if I want to trade + cash for a red or green. I just like having the idea of If wanted to go for more, like the e85 tune, and throw in a built block, the black would be perfect. So like I said, I'm torn! Haha. It does suck though when I get in it and having to wait until about 4000rpm range before she kicks in. Then it's time to shift a second later haha
