Im pretty much on the same boat as you, Just sold my HX35 1g and picked up an 03 evo that has some mods. I've been reading up on how to use evoscan and my head hurts. From what I understand, evoscan is just the logger, you still need another software to actually read the logs?? And another software to actually edit your maps?? I really would like to learn to use evoscan but the more I read the more Im intimidated and confuse, but then again Im a total dummy. Did you go the evoscan way? How was it compare to link? And do you know anybody that is running 2g ecu+ecmlink on their evo?

EvoScan is a logger and you can view your logs in graph form or in a maptracer (shows you data at the corresponding load/rpm cells) with Evoscan. Evoscan can also flash and edit, but most people use ECUflash to flash/edit.

Ecuflash is the Flasher/editor. You use it to edit the ROM and to flash the ROMs onto the ECU.

Last, a lot of people use Virtual Dyno to check power/make dyno charts. It also works with DSMlink/ECMlink logs and a bunch of other logger formats. You can also view your logs in graph form with Virtual Dyno.

I run Ecmlink in all 3 of my cars and i've tuned a few cars using ecuflash as well. Hands down ecmlink is much easier to dial in SD than ecuflash will ever be. SD wot with reflash is easy but tuning drivability will take a long time to get down (I'm picky on whats going on off boost, zero vacuum, and partial boost). Only because with ecm everything you change is on the fly (except the DA tables) and its pretty much set and forget for what map sensor/ait. There's no need to calibrate for load tables vs map tables etc. In the end it comes down to what ever you're comfortable with i guess. Both work fine once everything is up and running.

I love using V3 on my old 1g and my brothers 2g DSM, both were on SD, and yeah SD tuning was as straight forward as it gets. The only reason why I wanna try evoscan is because the previous owner I got the car from got it tuned with it, and it came with the cable.
