Can someone explain the difference in Tactrix Products?

Hello Tuners,

I recently purchased an Evo 8 and I am looking into getting it tuned or learning it myself. I see there are items like:
Tactrix Openport 2.0 http://www.tactrix.com/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=53
EvoScan cable http://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-o...flashing-cable
And recently I saw a Tactrix 1.3 cable but I can't find it anymore.

What cable do I need?

I assume the Tactrix 1.3 is the same as Openport 2.0 just a older version.

I believe the Openport 2.0 is for newer cars like the EvoX. You can buy the reflash adapter to use it on older Evos 5-9. I think you will need a Tactrix 1.3u with evoscan software (the 2nd link you have in your post).

Appreciate it! Think I finally figured it out myself but wanted some more info Looks like you can get an adapter for the 2.0.

wait, i thought u can use the tactrix 2.0 on all evos. its just that pre evo x needs an adapter for reflash only. i know there was problems with using it with evoscan 2.6 but it seems that has been fixed. correct me if i am wrong

You are correct. But if you have a Evo 7/8/9 the 1.3u is the favorable cable.

The Evoscan 1.3 was originally made by Tactrix, then the design was given to Evoscan once Tactrix came out with the 2.0.

The U just allows for use with the latest ECUFLash to read/write. If you have an Evo 8/9, the R works fine with EVOScan for flashing.

In evoscan if you open the maptracer you can view live values. In the second graph from the top you'll see a timing map. Right click and load your ROM. After that log some pulls. You can directly edit the tables in the map tracer by pressing [ or ]. You can right click and save after then flash.

In response to OP, 1.3 cable seems to work best for anything before the X. Still can't read DTC with my 2.0 cable but everything else works fine.
