Ok I just bought a 03 evolution. Yes I am a newb How do I find out what number of evo is it? Also main thing is I blew my engine. I'm looking at the 2.3rr AMS crate. Will this engine bolt in and to my turbo? Will my transmission work with it? Will I need a tune after? Anyone know where to get a good tune around central Illinois? Also how do I find out what turbo I have?

 

You have an Evo 8. How did you blow your engine ?

The AMS 2.3rr is a high end motor that usually only dragsters or track enthusiasts use, although I suppose one could daily drive it...

Yes, Technically your turbo and trans will bolt up to it. You will need a tune.

Take some pictures of the turbo and post it up. People here can tell you just by looking at it.

I have no idea I just got this evo and I was driving home from work at about 65 and it threw a rod I do believe oil was spewing out and the car almost burnt to the ground. Here's my turbo. The trans is the five speed and idea what tranny it is also the turbo?

Why dont you just give them a call automotosports (AMS) there in the same state as you. You did say you wanna buy there motor they could probly recommend something else or build the one you have.Also hard to say what turbo and trans with out serial numbers. Ask the person you bought it from. Again contact AMS there in West Illinois they can be some help

looks like the stock TD-05 16g turbo. and more than likely the stock 5 speed transmission is in it.
