Tuning a Two Step

For some reason my tuner did not put a two step on my tune, I'm wanting to add one but don't want to pay or anything.

Is this something I can do myself with a tactrix and ecuflash? Will it mess up my tune at all?

i believe you can do your self with a tactrix cable also if you talk to your tuner if you just paid he should be able to set that for you no charge

Adding two step should be a basic change to your ROM. Just a single value change. Buy the appropriate cable, download ECUFlash, pull rom, change value and reflash.

Without knowing what ROM you have I'm not 100% sure but it should not affect anything else in your tune.

Simple. Pull your rom with ecu flash. Go to limits section. Your rev limit and stationary rev limit will be listed. Your stationary rev limit is your 2 step. Hit the = sign and type in 5000 or whatever rpm you desire and flash it to the car key on engine off. Shut the key off. Start it, let it warm up and test it out

Ok, but I have an 03 evo and have heard they don't have a two step from the factory so it won't be in my ROM. Is that true?

From the factory it is in the ROM. They just set it to the same as the regular rev limit from the factory so you never are able to use it. Both are like like 7650 or something from the factory. Both sections will be there. I set my regular rev limit to like 8000 and stationary to 5000 ish.

Awesome thank you.

Now how does one go about "pulling the rom" I really just don't want to mess this up and I've never tried tuning a car before so I want to know what to do before I do it. I tried reading the stickys but they all act like you already have the maps pulled.

Thank you.

Very easy. Open ecuFLash. hook up your cable to your laptop and to your car. Turn the key to the on position with the engine off. Top left hand corner big box READ. Click that. Should load your whole tune. On the left side scroll to where you see the limits section. Open that, you will see 3. Rev limit, stationary rev limit, and speed limit or something. Click stationary rev limit. It will open and you will most likely see a value of like 7650 or something. Hit the = while the value is highlighted. It will now ask you for a new value. Type in like 5000 or whatever you desire. Hit enter. Go back to the top right hand corner of your page. Write to ECU. It will load then say complete. Turn your car off and wait a few seconds. Start your car let it warm up and floor that B*tch. It will hold at whatever value you selected. Don't give your car like 3/4 throttle either, FLOOR it

After all that learn how to launch and hope you don't blow your tcase before you figure it out lol

haha awesome thank you! as for launching I got it down pretty damn good without the two-step and i've put over 60k miles on the car since ive had it and the T-case is still running strong. Hopefully this just makes launching easier.

You may want to capitalize it and put a disclaimer beside it!

lol that's true. Just remember "If you hop like a bunny it's going to cost you alot of money."

Your welcome. Its fun to have. You may have to flash it a few times to find the sweet spot for yourself. Check your boost gauge when you do it, you should build a few psi as apposed to just reving it. I see like 14psi on my 2 step. Your car should launch much harder if you can find the spot where you don't bog and don't spin.

Also don't worry about flashing your car "too many times" I hear some people on here say that and its not true. I have had 2 evos and hundreds of flashes on both with no issues.
