Evo 8 low idle

Hey guys!! My evo 8 is all stock and when I start it it only wants to idle around 500 rpm and stalls occasionally until I drive away. Amy ideas what it might be??

Also since I replaces my alternator last week I'm not getting full boost(12 psi) at full throttle I'm only getting 8 psi. Could it be leaking and if so Is there an easy way to find a leak?

check all your vacuum lines, do a boost leak test as well

You could have a boost leak... Vacuum line might have popped off... CEL on? What codes?

Here is a nice How To for a Boost Leak.

Did you do the work or a shop? I would take it back if it was a shop and have them double check their work. Otherwise, find some time and double check your work too.

Did you do anything else recently?

I do all my own work, and don't have any trouble lights on. Just the alternator was done recently but it was almost as complicated as when I changed the clutch 1 1/2 years ago.

Unfortunately the link for the boost test doesn't work.

If the car was ok before and you havent done anything else than the alternator, I would take a look at the idle speed motor (located in the throttle body) and also checked the wires near the connector. Mine had the same problem, changed the idle speed motor, but still the same. Turned out that there was some broken wires just before the connector...

Ok guys, I've changed my throttle shaft seals, idle speed control and throttle position sensor and my idle has gone from 500 cold to 2000. My brain is going to explode, all I want is for my car to idle right especially since it's starting to get cold in Ohio. Please help!!!

So it's now spring and my idle runs about 1500 regularly, occasionally it comes down to 1000 at a long red light. I figured 5 months would be long enough for the ecu to relearn the idle but it won't consistently idle between 750 and 1000 like it should. HELP PLEASE!!!!!
