Do I need to retune?

I bought an 03 evo that had destroyed the bearings and crank, I have just finished rebuilding it. It had some cheap manual boost controller that I've found on ebay for like $8. But it also has 720cc injectors hks 272 cams and a walbro pump, car ran when I parked it. So I would assume (I know, bad), that it has a tune of some kind. With no tactrix to check, I have no clue. I also have no boost gauge.

Question is, can I hook up the stock boost controller and not expect terrible things to happen? That will be the only change from how it ran before, or should I keep the manual and have no clue what its set at?

I know I need several things, but the car is needed in a pinch and will be unable to get to a tuner anytime soon.

Thanks for the advice

Get a tune, you won't regret it.

I know I should get one, but do I NEED one for the time being? Just going from manual boost to stock ebc.

Get a GrimmSpeed EBC, install, drive it to tuner. You are due for a tune anyway with the new rebuild. Speaking of a rebuild, you should break-in the motor before taking it to the tuner. You should be fine driving it as long as you are "NOT" in boost.

No, no NEED for a tune on that, the boost might just be off. Try your best to avoid really getting on it until either you get a cable to log or get a boost gauge.

i wouldn't risk not knowing just buy a gauge just so you have an idea. i wouldn't drive it without knowing it will probably cost you more if something goes wrong.
