to lean?
to lean?
hey everyone just wondering what you think. in order to keep it over 11.0 in wot i have to go a little crazy with leaning it out. every other map i see online winds do to numbers in the 9's. still a work in process but my fuel map works pretty good just finishing my ign now.(hard to test n tune with a 3yo and a wife that works when im off)
ive tryed normal looking maps to see if my a/f gauge is just off but it knocks so i would assume my gauge is on.
air temp is about 30f. but temp in ny is crazy now going from 30-65 in one day

when i bought the car this is what the tune shop did to it a week before i bought it. tuned at 20 psi and everytime it hit boost the af would drop to 9. great job

This is why you can' t look at every map online as gospel. Everyone calibrates their cars differently. What you have to do is make changes and read what YOUR wideband is telling you. Some people like to match the wideband with their map. You don't have to do it that way but it makes things easier sometimes when adjusting the map.
I think thats what the tuner did just threw a map from another car in and called it a day. Prev owner was to stupid to know. the wideband was installed when i bought the car he just didnt know how to use it . But car runs great with the map i made. This is for full bolt ons s2 hks cams with valvetrain on 24 lbs.
I did copy my ign map from online but then threw logging n tuning made it my own.

When you have this condition: the MAF is reading HIGH (more air than there really is) and so the car runs rich. In order to RAISE your AFR to 11.0:1 (or as OP said "keep it over 11.0") you had to set your fuel targets super lean. I can say for sure on an EVO X this would be CRAP because now all the load calculations are off and your basically trying to compensate for an improperly tuned airflow measurement. What happens is this: your timing lookups are going to be WAY off and so are your boost targets. In short; your car is not tuned and your living life dangerously:
So what your saying then is one of the values are off or my maf is off. (maf reads consistent but this wasnt my original rom(prev tuner made v7 n switched from rom ..714 to ..715)
but in the mean time if value #1 is f@cked
and value #2 is f@cked the same amount
then it = a messed up clean working tune (untill i fix it)
car kept knocking untill i went this lean and my logged afr's are mint now.
so does anyone understand this stuff below. dont get me wrong i know what it is but knowing the correct values are a different story. im going to start looking it up now but good links are allways appreciated.

thank you for the response

just thought of this. i have my low load section set to the stranded 14.7. if what i said above is true then i should really have something like 15.7+.. damn i guess its a good thing works slow this week and i actually have time to mess with this.
ok so my maf scaling is correct.i have no clue what a smoothing map is. the tables below(pictures) are the other maf related tables i have and it would be awsome if someone with a 399 maf could bounce off there map.
i also have the open loop maps and my accel enrichment map says incorrect on it never noticed that before

Do you mind posting your logs? That would help paint the picture a little better of what your targets are and how close you are to them. The map only tells so much but without logs its tough. Also how much knock are you experiencing and where does it occur. Have you considered bringing it to a legitimate tuner or just trying to learn on your own?
