2.3L compression test results

Ok quick question... I was doing a compression test on my 2.3L evo8 and my results were 185 180 185 185.
This was a dry test only, i know for 2.0 its 175+ is very good results, but im wondering if its the same for a 2.3 build?

The reason why I'm doing this is because I'm burning 1qrt of oil every 200 miles...
So it could be several things from what i read on these threads...
1. bad piston rings
2. bad valve stem seals
3. bad pcv valve

any thing im missing? Thanks guys, any feedback is appreciated

as long as compression is the same or slightly different acrosss the board, you're good. who build the motor? that is great compression actually, sometimes those engines are built loosely so they can handle lots of boost without seizing up. I highly doubt you have anything to worry about.

Except youll need 2 quarts at every fill up? That doesnt sound right to me. I would start with the simple stuff check turbo for oil leaks pcv system then valve seals. RIngs would be a full engine build again so last resort for that. Thats good compression too my 2.4 was 215 I was like Its a bit lower now with a thicker head gasket.

To be honest the previous owner pretty much fixed it up a lot and since I'm new to evos and turbo cars I'm having trouble understanding some things but im trying catch up by reading threads

Yea man every time i fill my tank 180-200 miles throughout the week i add oil and i use 1qt... The thing is that when i go into boost and shift thats when i see smoke behind me so i know thats how I'm burning oil. Thats why i was convinced it was most likely the piston rings

Bingo you either have alot of blowby, problem with the turbo return line or bad turbo. Pop a lower intercooler pipe off and check for oil if its full of oil its not the rings for sure and you need to check turbo seals/ventilation issues. If no oil in pipes you need a leakdown test.

the driver side pcv port may be vented, does it have a filter on it? post some pictures for us.
