GUI based playback program
Yeah, the framework is the big issue.. and it doesnt have anything to do with download times.. Kinda the same reason I don't use the .NET framework, you get alot of resources that take up space and you never use.
All in all, data aquisition tools like this work the best for creating instrumentation so your on the right track
My original motivation was to create something that works on as many different platforms as I could think of.
This is really gonna end up being cool and good for the UTEC community.

Woahh, you guys never fail to impress me!!!!
Im on my way to become a computer scientish, well, not quite there yet, but i'm working on it. This is awesome, im thinking about the utech and with all the available R&D, this is going to be an awesome tool to play around with. Keep up the good work guys!!!!

Features Update for UTEC Logger 0.0.1
Well I didnt want to announce some features with the first release because, to be honest, I hadnt tested them to see if they worked or not. Well today I spent some time with the alpha release and I am happy to report the following features are fully operational:
- Built in webserver with full security. Ability to lock out IP addresses and submit only by ip address
- Full remote access capabilities from any machine on the internet or local network. Only requirement is a TCP/IP address and a web browser. Please note this does not work behind firewalls unless you have opened the proper ports
- Remote viewing ability from any connected PC via TCP/IP
All of these features can be setup via the setup menus located under the tools->options menus. A full manual is in the works right now but will take sometime and review before it is ready. Right now I am focusing mostly on the interface and getting the real time logger working properly.

Dang, you guys are smart. Can you say more about the real time logger???? I mean will it have a graph and color lines representing boost/timing/afr and scroll across the screen real time and record it????? RRR

Yes to all of the above. New version coming tonight with better graphs. I need to find sometime to sit in my car with the UTEC I guess to ensure the COM port stuff works properly. I can export all of this to work on a PPC as well but I really dont see any value to PPC graph logging. If I get enough requests I spose I can export it out but you will lose all of the remote abilities.

Is anyone using the UTEC's boost controller? Im wondering if it sends real data out that shows what the level is. All the logs I have seen show boost as ECU, LCM or 100 which doesnt provide good graphing numbers. If anyone is using the UTEC as a boos controller and has some logs of a run with this in please email them to me!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yeah, I'm using it.. My boost "Duty" is 80-100 depending on RPM and load.. I also have a MAP sensor so I'll be running closed loop boost shortly (I have dining room full of parts that need to be installed so I'm a little behind on my installs) Keep in mind the value represents something completely different in closed loop mode..
With the MAP sensor installed you will see a REAL boost value in Logger 1, second column.
Something like this: Log from my rex (MAP column)
Cheers
Mick

All lower case. I am working on getting this on a web server so it is easier to see. Three versions are on the server now that include a 50k exe update only file. This is all you will need if you have already installed the UTEC Player in the past.

dang......thats killer!!!!! Dont we need the load across the top of the graph??? How will we know if we have a 11.1 AFR on the chart if its at an acceptable load?? What ime trying to say is 11.1 might be good at 100% load but it will be rich at 40% load. By just seeing the AFR at an RPM isnt enough data to tune. Right???!! RRR

The really good news is I am now communicating to the UTEC and receiving real time data!! I even connected to the UTEC over the internet from my friends house across the street. That was kind of cool =)
Now I am working on a menu system so that you can enable / disable modes when you launch the program. It will ask you if you are connecting to the UTEC, Utilizing the playback function, or Map Editing. Map editing is something I am going to work on last though because there is already some seriously good map editors for the UTEC out there. I may just try to integrate one because thats one area that I dont want to have a value misplaced. Just will take lots of testing on different platforms to ensure that nothing chokes when its being sent. I am thinking of doing a send, save, then read back and compare to ensure the map is actually what was intended. I have the logic down for it but just havent got the menun navigation completed yet.
Tonight I hooked up the UTEC to some line simulators (low voltage sims) and I am letting it run all night passing fake data to a P3 laptop through the night. I want to ensure that the values dont shift at all and make sure it doesnt crash under long loads. Let you all know tomorrow how the burn in goes and if everything goes well I should be relasing the first Real Time logging and Real Time internet streaming release this weekend!

What if you add an identicle graph like the 4 you have . The bottom one would be for load. Then make it so that if you click on somthing, a line will show up and run through all 5 graphs. where ever you move the line ie left or right, the little number in the bottom right of each graph will give you that positions numerical value. This would make it dead accurate. Oh and what about a boost graph??? The graph is *****en, i just think you only need to graph the items used to do tuning. Timing, AFR, boost, load and RPM. The rest can be the little gauges. nobody tunes by MAF signal cause its so erratic. Injector duty is irrelevent till you max them out. You have the exact right idea here to make this the tool of every UTEC user, just need to swap some graphs around. P.S. this of course isnt a flame. Its a suggestive comment. Whatever you do, it will be appreciated by me!!! Ray
