See now its getting interesting lol.. Other than the Mivec, turbo and diverter valve, which im sure accounts for easier HP gains what other things should be taken into account?
Just MIVEC and the turbo. My IX made 333whp with just a MBC, fuel pump, injectors, and exhaust, if I remember right. VIII should do 300.
Man, you guys have me worrying I'm doing something wrong. lol
I make 335 on a Mustang Dyno (does that really make a difference?) with bolt ons, cams, and a BBK full. Im on SD by the way. 300 Whp doesnt seem that hard to get to, and from what I have gathered it is mostly about freeing up the flow of the engine. Good luck!

Dynos can be adjusted anywhere in between, but MD usually reads lower than anything else.
My Evo 8 made good numbers with minor bolt ons, 311whp 290wtq. On a Mustang dyno @DBW Motorsports in Atlanta GA.

I'd say it's easy. Lot's in the tune. Previous owner tune with the same mods ran 286whp/265wtq at 23 psi.
